RW Racing GP back in business

Luis Salom Indianapolis 2012

After a four week break the Moto3 boys are back in action. RW Racing GP as well. The Indianapolis GP means the start of the second half of the season and Luis Salom and Brad Binder were looking forward to that.

Unfortunately the first free practice on Friday morning was wet and windy: not the best imaginable start for a GP after a month without proper racing. The circumstances were far from ideal to get feeling again with the Kalex KTM with some modifications. Therefore Salom and Binder tried long stints in the afternoon, in the second practice which was dry and warm (air 24° Celsius, track 39°). Sandro Cortese set the fastest time of the day, but Salom was not far behind and is on the provisional second row. Binder is a little further back, on the provisional sixth row.

Luis Salom (5): ,,We did two long stints. One of five complete laps, one of eight laps. Not being on your race bike for four weeks is a long time. I have trained on another bike, but that is so much different. That is why I wanted to stay out, to get the feeling back. Besides that we had to try a few small modifications.’’

Brad Binder (18): ,,I had some issues with rear grip; almost the same as I had last year on this track. It is because of that that my lap times are not very consistent yet. It’s a bit up and down. But I’ll be fine for qualifying tomorrow.’’

Team manager Johan Stigefelt: ,,In general everything was well. We modified the bikes a bit and it seems to work. We have no major things to change for tomorrow.’’
