After Jorge Lorenzo continue his relationship with Yamaha for another two years, Yamaha now is still looking for the second rider on the factory team. Cal Crutchlow is one of strong candidate for the position. A brief meeting between Lin Jarvis and Cal Crutchlow has happened. Unfortunately there're still no positive sign about the agreement.
According to MCN, Lin Jarvis said, "I spoke with Cal recently and asked him if he would like to go to the factory team. He said at the moment what he would love to do is stay with Tech 3 because he is really happy but ideally have a factory spec bike. I don’t think that is going to happen."
Jarvis continue, "Yamaha have always said, and I completely understand, that the factory team is their priority in terms of development and when they can they give us the evolution material. But they don’t want to be linked by a written contract where they have to give everything at the same time. So far this has been Yamaha’s philosophy and I understand that."
So if Yamaha do not want to give a factory package to tech3 and Cal also do not want to go to factory, the chances for second rider is still open.
On the Bennetts Bike Insurance live chat with Cal Crutchlow, Crutchlow said, "I think I've got a good shout at it but it's down to the Yamaha bosses. At the minute we've proved what we can do, but Andrea has been in a factory team for three years already and has come back to a satellite team and is obviously one of the best riders around. He's already been in a factory team so maybe that will be in my favour"
Crutchlow continue, "My priority is to stay with Yamaha because they've been very loyal to me over the past four years and I hope to repay them and hopefully we can do a good job with them. I'll wait to see what they want to do first and foremost but if not, we'll look at the other options on the table."
