The Mugello circuit characteristics force Colin Edwards and the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team to double the efforts in order to get back to the performance level achieved in Sachsenring five days ago, where they had their best result of the season since Qatar.
Mugello presents itself as a more complex track in terms of the bike’s setup. The American rider completed 28 laps today, with a 1´51.857 as his personal best of the day, three tenths faster than during the morning practice but that are not enough for him to fight for the top CRT yet.
Colin Edwards
“After our good result last week, we came here positive and ready to go, but it seems like we have the same problems we had at the beginning of the season. The bike doesn’t turn, it only turns pretty good on gas, which is why we had such a good result in Sachsenring and here we are struggling. The bike setup here is very similar to the one we had in Sachsenring. There are two different motorcycles; you’ve got the breaking side off gas that doesn’t turn and as soon as you open the gas it decided it wants to turn. It’s a struggle right now. We will see how tomorrow goes.”
Sergio Verbena - Crew Chief
“Unfortunately here at Mugello our weekend has started with some difficulties that we didn’t have during the last week in Sachsenring. We knew we wouldn’t have started off as well as in Germany because Mugello is a very different track that magnifies the problems that we have had from the beginning of the season. We are trying to solve part of those to allow colin to reduce the gap with the other CRTs. As of today the gap is very present but we know in which direction to work on to get close to the others.”
