Unfortunate qualifying for the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team

Yuki Takahashi Brno 2012

The good feelings from the first day of free practice here at the Brno were not confirmed during today’s qualifying session as Alex De Angelis and Yuki Takahashi end in 18th and 22nd position for tomorrow’s staring grid.

The rider from San Marino did not feel comfortable during this morning’s session with a setting modification and during qualifying he suffered a crash after changing tires just a few minutes before the end of the session. The Japanese rider has solved the problems he was having with the front and tomorrow he will have to focus on gaining positions.

Alex de Angelis – 18th (2´03.384)
“The day didn’t exactly start off in the best of ways: this morning we made a modification that I did not like and the lap times were slow. We then went back to yesterday’s setting and right away the bike went faster. Right after making a modification I felt confident and following a fast rider in front of me, I opened the throttle too soon and crashed before I could make my fast lap. It’s a shame because we could have been closer to the top positions given the results we had yesterday.”

Yuki Takahashi – 22nd (2´04.636)
“Yesterday I had a strange feeling with the front of the bike and last night my mechanics worked really hard to check everything and as a result this morning the front felt much better. From there onwards we started working on the setting, I feel I needed more time to work on the setting but this is how racing is and we run out of time. Finally during qualifying we found a good setting for tomorrow but we have a modification to test during the warm up tomorrow before the race.”

Pietro Caprara – Crew chief
“We have made important improvements with Yuki since yesterday’s free practice. Using a similar setting to the one he had at Mugello and Sachsenring, he seems to have found the feeling with the bike. Even though the traffic on track affected his qualifying position, the hopes for tomorrows race are positive.  Alex had a great day of free practice and felt comfortable right away yesterday and this morning we decided to modify something that did not work but which was important in terms of the development for us. Qualifying could have been better but his race pace make us confident for tomorrow’s.”
