Danny Kent confident of top 15 challenge in Indianapolis

Tech 3 Racing Team rider Danny Kent is confident a second points scoring finish in the 2013 Moto2 World Championship is well within his grasp after he returned from the long summer break in fast form at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The British rider will start tomorrow’s 25-lap race from 20th position on the grid, but his final pace in qualifying certainly doesn’t reflect his true potential after he challenged for the top 10 for long periods in an exciting session.

Kent ended with a personal best lap of 1.43.956, which was less than a second behind the fastest pace set by World Championship leader and compatriot Scott Redding.

Teammate Louis Rossi faces a tough challenge after a quickest lap of 1.44.907 put him in 25th spot on the grid, the Frenchman still optimistic that he can also join the hunt for the top 15 with Kent.

“I’m happy with how the weekend has gone but I’m not satisfied with our grid position as it does not show our true potential and the pace we have displayed throughout the weekend. Nevertheless I’m really confident that with a good start tomorrow I’ll be able to stay with the top 15 and fight for the points to get a boost of confidence to start the second half of the season.”

Louis Rossi 25th 1.44.907 – 19 laps:
“I can’t be really happy with this qualifying session because I think we were able to do much better. I didn’t start the session with a good rhythm, as I felt I was going to crash in a lot of places. During my second run we could slightly improve my feeling with the bike and I could repeat my lap time from this morning. I was able to improve towards the end of the session but besides a few issues with our engine I also have to improve myself on the bike.  I need to change my lines in a few areas as well as my movement on the bike. But if we can make these modifications for tomorrow I’m confident that we can be more competitive than what we’ve shown today.”
