Tech 3 Racing Team riders Danny Kent and Louis Rossi delivered determined performances at the Misano track this afternoon to finish inside the top 20 at the end of a tough 26-lap Moto2 race in San Marino.
A sensational start launched Kent immediately inside the top 10, but as the early battle intensified in warm but blustery conditions at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, he was unable to keep his Mistral 610 machine in contention for a third points scoring finish of the campaign.
The British rider was able to maintain a constant rhythm in the 1.39 bracket, but despite giving his maximum effort to the chequered flag he finished in 19th position.
One place further down the rankings was teammate Rossi, who was able to gain more braking confidence throughout a race that took part in front of a large crowd of close to 51,000 fans.
Danny Kent 19th – 7 points :
“That was definitely not the result I had anticipated after a strong Friday and Saturday. I got an amazing start and was into eighth position but I ran wide going onto the back straight and that lost me a lot of places. I couldn’t find my rhythm and I was making a few mistakes so obviously i'm very disapointed because 19th is not where I expected to finish. I need to go away now and try and regroup and be back fighting strong for the next race.”
Louis Rossi 20th – 4 points :
“I made some mistakes at the start and I lost the group in front and that was a shame because I didn’t finish far behind Danny at the end. It was a very difficult race because the pace of those around me was almost identical and that made it hard to battle through. I finished 20th and that is not a bad result but obviously I would have liked to do better. I gained some more confidence in braking this weekend and hopefully I can be more competitive and closer to the points in the next race at Aragon.”
