Hiroshi Aoyama Happy with Fourth Place CRT

Hiroshi Aoyama MotoGP Indianapolis 2013

After a lot of work and tests during the weekend, the MotoGP race was not as positive as expected by the Avintia Blusens team, although it is true that Hiroshi Aoyama took a step forward feeling very recovered from the hand injured at Montmeló and scoring again, after having achieved it in the first race of the season. Aoyama, solved the qualifying problems with the rear brake, did a good start but was left behind when another rider forced him to go off the track. The last 250cc World Champion moved up some positions and managed to maintain a pace that led him to become one of the fastest CRT riders in different moments of the race. Finally he finished fifteenth and scored a point.

Less positive was the GP for Héctor Barberá who never felt at ease with the set-up of his bike throughout the weekend. Despite being quickly in some parts of the race, the problems with the front wheel and the lack of confidence that these cause, prevented him from obtaining the desired result. Barberá arrived at Indianapolis having been the first CRT at Laguna Seca and the fifth place at Indy is not enough.

Now the team will travel to Brno to race the eleventh round of the season, in which they expect to have a good weekend.

8 Héctor Barberá (16th +1.25.879):
“It has been a difficult and complicated race in which we have carried the front part bike problems of the practice sessions around. We have done a lot of tests and even before the start of the race we have thought about making some changes. The reality is that I have never managed to ride at ease and things have not changed in the race. I am a little disappointed because I was the first CRT in the last race and I did not expect this result. Fortunately, next weekend we race another GP, we have another opportunity, and it is also at a circuit that I like”.

7 Hiroshi Aoyama: (15th +1.20.159):
“Yesterday we had problems with the rear brake in the qualifying session and today in the warm-up we have not been able to solve them. So for the race we have changed the whole rear brake package. We were a little worried because it was a material that we had not tested and we did not know how it would work. Fortunately it has gone well and I have not had any problem. I am satisfied with having solved the brake issue, having scored again and because we have had a very good pace. I think that without the incident of the first lap, in which a rider forced me to go off the track losing several positions, I could have been able to finish higher up. I want to thank the team for the work done and I hope that we continue in this line. It is good to score again and feel competitive. I am happy”.

Barbera and Aoyama Wait for New Chassis to Reduce Chatter

Hector Barbera Sepang MotoGP Test 2013

Avintia Racing riders, Hiroshi Aoyama and Hector Barbera worked on ECU and suspension along the MotoGP test at Sepang. Both of the were happy and felt positive. Aoyama set 2:04.915 on the day 3 test, while Barbera on 2:04.211.

Aoyama told that the chatter problem was reduced. Aoyama worked on suspension and chassis on the last day test, while barbera on ECU. Barbera added that the new ECU was working well

Hiroshi Aoyama
"It has been a very interesting test. The work has been positive and we left with a lot of information. The first two days were dedicated to the new electronics and the rest to the development of the chassis and suspension. We have found the right direction to solve the chattering problems and we’ll apply it in the second test for the bike to go better. We must also work with the electronics, but for now I have chosen to focus on the suspension and chassis. My wrist has bothered me a bit, but when we return here will be much better."

Héctor Barberá
"We have done a good job and I'm happy with how the sessions have developed, but we still have much to do. The new electronics worked well, but we were unable to unlock their full potential. In the next test this will be solved. As for the bike, we have chattering at corner entry and it cost us time to fix it, but we will have a new chassis with which I am sure will improve a lot in this regard. It is the first outing after a few months and the conclusion is positive. The team has worked perfectly and we have much room for improvement before the start of the championship."

Not Much Action for CRT at Sepang

Danilo Petrucci Pit Sepang 2013
Extra two days for CRT team at Sepang wasn't going well. After some technical problem at day one, today (local time) at Sepang, the test was interrupted by rain. Only Danilo Petrucci did more action on the track than the other riders

Came IodaRacing
Danilo Petrucci did 27 laps on day one for Came IodaRacing. Petrucci tested the new ECU. Meanwhile his new teammate Lukas Pesek only stayed at the pit. On the day two, Lukas Pesek did a few laps and share the ECU with Petrucci.

Avintia Racing
Both Hector Barbera and Hiroshi Aoyama made some laps on the day one after they got a wiring loom issue. Unfortunately Hiroshi Aoyama still felt some pain, so he couldn't continue and decided to enter pit. Hiroshi Aoyama doesn't take the day two test due to fitness problem. While Hector Barbera managed 20 laps once the rain settled down, finishing the day second quickest behind Petrucci.

NGM Forward Racing
NGM Forward Racing was slowed by a late delivery of parts on day one. Colin Edwards and Claudio Corti could only stand around and watch as the team finished their work throughout the day. On the day two, both riders made a few laps to gather information from the ECU

Hector Barbera will Fight for the Final Race with the Green Team

Hector Barbera Phillip Island 2012
As tradition, the final chapter of the MotoGP World Championship 2012 will be written in Valencia, Spain this weekend.

The spectacular Spanish track, that accommodates the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana, has several layouts, running anti-clockwise with varying lengths. It allows all part of the circuit to be seen from any stands, helping to create a unique atmosphere enjoyed by the Spanish and international riders.

The Pramac Racing team rider, Hèctor Barberà is ready to ride his Ducati number 8 for the last time, in a race full of excitement for him.
For the Spaniard it is more than a home race: he hails from a nearby town and grew up at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, where he finished first both in 2004 and in 2009, securing the first runner-up spot in two different classes.

For this 2012 season finale Héctor has an important goal: try to achieve the top ten finish in the overall World standing (with only 5 points separating him from Ben Spies).

Héctor Barberà
“This is my home circuit and I can go fast without hardly thinking about it, so I hope that remains the case this weekend. I will fight, trying to achieve my best result of this season to complete this adventure with the Pramac Racing Team in a positive way, both for me and for my crew”.

Barbera Slowed by Chattering Problems

Hector Barbera Phillip Island Race 2012

A difficult race for the Pramac Racing Team and his rider, Héctor Barberà, that closed their penultimate 2012 MotoGP round, achieving an unfulfilling 12th place at the Australian Grand Prix.

After an imperfect start, the Spaniard was able to climb over some positions, achieving and fighting for the top ten thanks to a good race pace.

Nevertheless, after a few laps, Héctor experienced an unexpected chattering issue, that forced him to lose both important positions and confidence with his Ducati.
After that Héctor was not capable to ride with the early pace, losing the contact with the group and struggling to manage his place throughout the race.

The next round is planned for Valencia in Spain, the final race of this spectacular 2012 season.

Héctor Barberà – Position 12th
“What I can say…we struggled from the first day of practices to find the right front end feeling, but, during today’s race I had an unpredictable chattering issue in different areas of the track. We never had a big chatter problem in the past like today and, in these conditions, I didn’t have enough confidence to ride as I wanted”.

Hector Barbera Targeting Top Ten at Phillip Island

Hector Barbera Sepang 2012

The Pramac Racing Team gets to Australia this week, preparing for the third and final flyaway race of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship at the fast and undulating Philip Island circuit.

The Green Energy Team rider, Héctor Barberà, arrives at the spectacular Australian track with a strong confidence, after he raced to a brilliant seventh place in the Malaysian Grand Prix last Sunday.

The Phillip Island weekend is, due to its proximity to the coast, frequently dominated by rapidly changing weather conditions. The forecast shows rain and cold for the next days and this poor conditions could shuffle the cards for all the MotoGP riders.

Despite that the Spaniard still has the mathematical chance of clinching the top ten finish in the World standing (with only 9 points separating him from Ben Spies) and he will try to attain also this goal.

Héctor Barberà
“I’m really excited to riding at the Phillip Island circuit, one of my favourite and probably the most beautiful track on the MotoGP calendar. I have good memories on this track, as in 2009 when I achieved a great second place with my Aprilia 250cc and I always enjoy riding there. After the last round in Malaysia, where we caught a positive result despite it was a difficult race due to the tricky weather conditions, I’m really determined to finish on the top ten again. I know it's not going to be easy, but I will try my best!”

Hecor Barbera Equalled His Best Result of the 2012 on Seventh

Hector Barbera Sepang 2012

A difficult race at the Malaysian Grand Prix, affected by a torrential rain, a raft of crashes and a red flag that broke off the 16th round of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship at the Sepang circuit, due to the tricky weather conditions.

In a race that was declared wet from the start, the Pramac Racing team rider, Héctor Barberà got a good start, moving into sixth, but he immediately found a small issue with the electronic control unit, losing important positions as consequence.

Lap after lap, with the rain was getting heavier, the Spaniard was able to find a good rhythm with his Ducati, keeping his bike upright and gaining some places, also thanks to the numerous crashes.

With seven laps remaining, the race was red-flagged (due to safety reasons) and it was interrupted: Héctor finished his Malaysian weekend in seventh place, equalling his best result in this 2012 and taking home some important points for the world ranking.

Héctor Barberà – Position 7th
“I’m obviously happy for the seventh place. It was my goal, even if I thought I could catch it in a dry race. We worked well during the whole weekend and I was sure I could achieve a positive result. But the rain arrived and I was a little bit concerned about it because I certainly did not have the same great feeling with my Ducati in the wet. Fortunately, on the contrary, during the race I got my confidence back and I was able to stay on the bike, finishing the race and achieving a satisfying result.”

Positive Qualifying Session for Hector Barbera at Sepang

Hector Barbera Sepang 2012

The Pramac Racing Team and his rider, Héctor Barberà, achieved the 7th spot on the grid in today’s qualifying session at the Malaysian Grand Prix scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 GMT.

Setting a best lap time of 2’01.294, the Spaniard will start from a promising third row, putting in for a strong performance for tomorrow’s 20 laps race.

Héctor struggled a little with some chattering problems, but these small issue seems to be no cause for concern for the Pramac Racing Team, that tomorrow will use also the twenty-minute warm up to adjust the bike set up, trying to help Héctor to fight for a brilliant result.

Héctor Barberà – 7th place in 2’01.294
“I’m very happy about today. The Sepang circuit is one of my favourite tracks and I always went quite fast here. I achieved a good result in today’s qualifying session, finding a good pace. The 7th place of today, allows me to arrive on the grid tomorrow, with confidence to battle for a great race and it was what I needed. I’m feeling good on my Ducati and I know we can hunt for one of our best results, in this 2012 MotoGP season. Today I rode with the same lap times I set during the winter test (even if during the preseason test we found different weather conditions compared this weekend) and this improved a lot my confidence for tomorrow’s race.”

Pramac Racing Team Heads to Sepang for Malaysian GP

Hector Barbera Motegi 2012

The Pramac Racing Team and his rider Héctor Barberà are getting ready for the 16th round of the season that will take place in Malaysia at the Sepang circuit, where, during last year’s race, Marco Simoncelli tragically lost his life.

The white and green crew arrives in Malaysia with a strong confidence that it can fight for a thrilling race into the top ten, also to pay homage to Sic.

Héctor has strong memories at the Malaysian track, achieving important podium in the past years, like in 2009 or in 2007 aboard on his Aprilia 250cc and these keepsakes will be an extra motivation for him to do a great race.

The fast and technical Sepang track is without a doubt the most mentally and physically demanding on the calendar, with its frequent changes of direction that provides a great workout both for the rider and for the bike and also due to the extreme weather conditions and high humidity.

Héctor Barberà
“I’m looking forward to going to Malaysia because we have a lot of positive data at the Sepang circuit. It is a track I know well, having spent much of the preseason testing there. I was quite fast during the winter and I hope it will be the same again this weekend, even if it remains one of the most demanding on the calendar. I will give the best I can from Friday to catch a great result”.

Hector Barbera Motegi 2012
It was a positive day at the Twin Ring in Motegi for the Pramac Racing Team that, thanks to the weather conditions, was able to work constructively for the whole day.

The white and green rider, Héctor Barberà, will start from the fourth row for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Japan. The Spaniard posted the twelfth- best time of 1’46.881 during the sixty-minute qualifying, putting in a big effort and improving his feeling with his Ducati, session after session.

Héctor Barberà – 12th place in 1’46.881

I improved a lot my confidence, returning to have the right feeling with the bike after a painful period and it is what I needed. I’m feeling good and I’m optimistic about tomorrow’s race, even if we still have a few things that we need to work on, to improve the race pace. Hector Barbera Wants the Result at the Twin Ring

Hector Barbera Aragon 2012

The MotoGP paddock arrives in Japan this week for the 15th round of the 2012 World Championship, the first of three flyaway races that will take place in Japan, Malaysia and Australia.

After a difficult race at the MotorLand Aragon two weeks ago, the Pramac Racing Team rider Héctor Barberà is eager to take the track and achieve the top ten, having missed out it in the last races.
The Twin Ring Motegi holds mixed memories for the Spaniard, who suffered a serious injury both in 2011 and in 2008, but he has also enjoyed some good races at the Japanese track.

The Motegi circuit has modern facilities and features a somewhat geometric track layout. Braking and acceleration are the main prerequisite for a fast lap time.

Héctor Barberà
“In Aragon I had an unsatisfactory weekend and unfortunately I had also missed out the last four races because of my injury. This run of three races will be tough for everyone, but I will be working hard as ever, looking for re-acquaint myself with the bike and hoping for some good results. As always our target will be the top ten and catch as many points we can take without risking too much. We will do our best and see what happens!”

12th Place for Hector Barbera at Aragon

Hector Barbera Aragon 2012

Pramac Racing Team rider, Hèctor Barberà, rode hard to take 12th position, during the Gran Premio de Aragon under sunny and clear skies at least.

Starting from the 10th spot on the grid, Héctor slipped a place at the start, exiting turn two in eleventh position. After another two laps, the 25-years old established himself in a group that included Abraham, Espargarò and De Puniet, fighting for 9th place.

Despite pushing hard to remain in the battle for the top nine, the Spaniard wasn’t able to maintain his early pace, holding in 12th place alone until the chequered flag due to a lack of confidence with his Ducati.

The next appointment is scheduled in two weeks, when the MotoGP riders will visit the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan.

Héctor Barberà – 12th place
“The bright spot of today was that I finished the race, even if obviously, it wasn’t where I wanted to be. I had no feeling with the bike and I need to re-acquaint myself, following the long summer break due to the injury and the difficult weekend in Misano. Now we have to look forward, working hard to finish the 2012 World Championship in the best way”.

Marco Rigamonti – Track Engineer Pramac Racing Team
“It’s a shame because we expected a better result. Héctor told us that he still had a lack of feeling with the bike and he would like to have a one-day test, but at this point of the season, it is not possible. We should use all the free practice sessions in each round until the end of the season, trying to catch the best result’s possible.”

Hector Barbera Achieved the Top Ten at Aragon Qualifying Session

Hector Barbera Aragon 2012
Positive qualifying session for Héctor Barberà and the Pramac Racing Team at the Motorland Aragon.

After three free practice sessions characterized by wet conditions, the rain gives all the MotoGP riders a break, just in time for the qualifying session to decide the starting grid for tomorrow’s 23 laps race.

During the sixty-minute qualifying, Héctor was able to achieve a good 10th place, putting in a big effort and improving his confidence with the bike lap after lap.

Tomorrow the Pramac Racing Team will use the twenty-minute warm up to refine the best bike set up, helping Héctor to improve also his confidence.

Héctor Barberà – 10th place in 1’51.072
“I would like to explain my feelings after this tough period, but it’s too difficult. Probably only a rider may be able to understand me. Getting back to the track after six-week absence it seems like getting back aboard on the bike after the winter break! Despite that I’m confident about tomorrow’s race because I’m feeling better lap after lap and I was able to improve also my best lap time, as consequence.”

Marco Rigamonti – Track Engineer Pramac Racing Team
“Héctor struggled to find the right confidence with the bike, but after several runs (to test especially himself) he was able to display his riding ability and I’m sure that tomorrow we can achieve a positive result”.

Wet First Day for Hector Barbera at Aragon

Hector Barbera Aragon 2012

The opening day at the MotorLand Aragon took place on a wet circuit and all the MotoGP riders took the track to test their set-up in these tricky weather conditions.

In particular, the Pramac Racing Team rider, Hector Barbera, used the first free practice sessions to re-acquaint himself both with the bike and the wet track, following a long summer break due to his injury and the difficult weekend in Misano, two weeks ago.

Héctor worked with the Pramac Racing Team today, not looking for the best race set up, but only trying to improve his confidence with the Ducati machine.

Tomorrow’s final practice and qualifying sessions are expected to be run in wet conditions, but dry conditions have been forecast for Sunday’s race.

Hector Barbera
“Getting back to the track with these poor conditions is the most difficult thing to do. In Misano, two weeks ago, I had a painful weekend after more than a six-week absence through injury so today I tried only to regain the confidence with my bike.
I’m sure that tomorrow we will have a much more productive day and I will able to make a big step forward.”

Hector Barbera Wants Redemption at Aragon

Hector Barbera Misano 2012

The Pramac Racing Team heads to Aragon this weekend for its penultimate European stop, just before the MotoGP paddock embarks on flyaway trips to Japan, Australia and Malaysia.

The MotorLand Aragon circuit, added to the series just in 2010, is full of turns and straights that could allow the Ducati to unleash its power.
The track lies near the tow of Alcaniz, in northern Spain, only a few hours drive from Barcelona.

For Héctor, this will be the third race on the home soil during the 2012 and he is impatient to get back on the track in front of his Spanish fans and to bounce back from a difficult period.

Héctor Barberà
“I don’t want to mull over the last weeks: it has been a difficult period. I need to think about the present and focus on this race at the MotorLand Aragon. It will be an important stop, rich of positive incentives. The only thing I want now is to get back on the track, working with my crew and achieving the best from these final four rounds. To restart from here, my home soil, with the support of my fans, gives me a special energy and I’m getting ready to take advantage from it. We must do a good job and try to immediately find the right setup for the bike. I like the track, which is very complex and technical and I want to get a nice result.”

The Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini had started with tricky weather conditions (that hampered all three free practice sessions), and it finished with Héctor’s crash during the first lap. Getting back on the track after a six-week absence, Héctor was eager to ride his Ducati again, but unfortunately his race finished too early for him to demonstrate his potential. Héctor lost the front of his bike in one of the first few corners, crashing and taking World Championship contender Dani Pedrosa out as well. The error was obviously unintentional and Héctor extends his apologies to the rider and his team. The next round is scheduled in two weeks and it will take place in Aragon, Spain.

Héctor Barberà
“It’s a shame. I was impatient to get back on the track, but my adventure finished too early to enjoy myself. Unfortunately, when I followed Dani’s wheel I lost my braking point and hit the brakes far too late. I tried to slow the bike down, but I lost grip on the front. I’m very disappointed, even more so because I took out Dani in the process and that was the last thing that I wanted to happen. It was my fault that he crashed out and I apologise profusely to him for that. I also apologise to my team that worked so hard this week. Now I have to wait another two weeks, but I will be ready for the Spanish round.”

Francesco Guidotti
“It’s a shame about the early crash. Héctor really did not mean it. We are sad, in particular because the crash caught up the World Championship contender, Pedrosa. Héctor was trying to gain places but he lost his braking reference and hit the brakes too hard, losing grip and sliding into Dani.
All the Pramac Racing Team apologize to Pedrosa and his crew.”

Hector Barbera Back in Action on 13th Place

Hector Barbera Misano 2012

After three free practice sessions characterized by mixed weather conditions, the sun finally arrived at the Misano circuit, just in time for the qualifying session to decide the starting grid for tomorrow’s race at the Gran Premio di San Marino e Riviera Rimini.

The Pramac Racing Team used the sixty-minute qualifying to get Héctor re-acquainted both with the track and the bike, following the six-week absence due to his recent injury. The white and green team spent the majority of the qualifying session trying to improve Héctor’s confidence with his Ducati machine, without looking for the best set up. Tomorrow's twenty-minute warm-up should be used at its best to improve Héctor’s bike and make him able to fight for better positions during the race.

Héctor Barberà – 13th place in 1’36.048
“It’s a special day: I get back on the track after two months of absence and I needed to find again the feeling to ride my Ducati. Obviously, 13th place was not where I wanted to be, but I’m optimistic about the race. Tomorrow I’ll grit my teeth and try to decrease my lap times by one second or more and to find the best setup possible. I’m confident that we can do a steady step forward, achieving a positive result.”

Francesco Guidotti, Pramac Racing Team Manager
"Lap by lap, Héctor returned to having the right feeling with the bike, and this is the most important thing. Tomorrow we have to improve our setup, working on a variety of aspects on the bike and trying to catch a good result during the race. And I know we can do it!"
