Max Neukirchner Decided to End the 2012 Moto2 Season Prematurely

Max Neukirchner Brno 2012

German rider Max Neukirchner and his team Kiefer Racing have decided to end their mutual partnership  for 2012 prematurely. The Moto2 rider has followed the advice of the medical team to let his hands heal completely, to prevent possible damage with too an early exposure to racing and the possibility of another fall.

Neukirchner suffered a metacarpal bones injury after crash on Qatar race. On a meeting at the San Marino last Saturday, both Stefan Kiefer and Max Neukirchner came to the decision to end the season prematurely.

Stefan Kiefer, Team Manager
"Our season has not gone the way we hoped it would, which is clearly evident. Nevertheless our original plan was to end the season with Max, because it's not our way to end contracts prematurely. But unfortunately the crash in Brno happened. Because it makes no sense to wait until the last race to fulfil a contract, we have decided together with Max for the premature end. We wish Max a successful career and hope that he will find a team where he can work on the same friendly, almost familiar basis."

Max Neukirchner
"We launched in the season with great expectations. Unfortunately we have not managed except for in some practice sessions and races to implement them. Just when it got better again, this stupid crash happened in Brno. My doctors advised me to let the injury heal in peace. What results from an injured hand, we have seen after the fall in Qatar. Even if we weren´t able to fulfil our goals, I had a good relationship with the team and I wish them all the best for the future."

Max Neukirchner: "It was definitely not a good weekend for us"

Max Neukirchner Estoril 2012

Today's Grand Prix of Portugal at Estoril for motorcycles in the Moto2 class was for Max Neukirchner of Kiefer Racing again a learning effect. After the training he ever had problems with the landing gear, he could try out in the warmup a few improvements in the race and drove his fastest lap times all weekend.

In the warmup before they took further changes to the steering head angle, which proved equally as very positive. Max could be in the running of the first round exit faster lap times than the rest of the weekend. This gave him confidence and he fought his way to the front position by position. A little handicap with his left hand, which hurt a bit during the race and disability cost, towards the end, some force. Alles in Allem are Max and the Team but zufrieden, since themselves on Sunday zeigte that man befindet themselves on richtigen Weg.

The race itself was a highly dramatic way to the end. The championship leader Marc Marquez was able to ensure his victory ahead of compatriot Pol Espargaro only in a tough duel in the final round. In third place came the Swiss Tom Lüthi the finish line, who had led for most of the race.

Max Neukirchner
"It was definitely not a good weekend for us, I had big problems with the track and I almost did not get along so then we always move with the vote in the district since.. I had absolutely no feeling for the bike. It moves a little to the side, but also with my left hand I've struck in Qatar, I'm on the brake is not as fit as ever for the warmup, we have try something with the steering head angle and were very satisfied. I can now pretty well into it brake in the curve, only the side grip, which I still miss. If we find the still, then I used to gas and also at the corner exit acceleration take properly. It is positive that we got through it well. We have learned a lot and I hope we can implement at Le Mans. "

Stefan Kiefer (Team Manager):
"Ultimately, we are happy with 20th place there are very few drivers failed and it is actually also what Max has moved out with the changes for the warmup, we have also improved again.. . In the race to him, the changes probably come to meet. I think Max is here mainly to finish the race hazards, other people could watch and learn. As he was also able to drive the faster times. "

Max Neukirchner Hope for the race

Max Neukirchner Estoril 2012

During the final qualifying for the GP of Portugal in the Moto2 class was Max Neukirchner still no solution to the problem prevailing on the technical side. The 27th Starting position for the race was the result of today. But that is when Kiefer Racing and Max Neukirchner also linked the hope of finding a solution for the race.
Estoril is not one of the favorite tracks from Max and he is also the first time really traveling on this road. However, he does not see the reason for the placement, but rather on the technical side. They tried by all means a vote to find that Max has more confidence, but so far no solution at hand.

No solution is in Kiefer Racing but not that one puts up with it. Now the bike is again checked through, and analyzes the complete data. Then it is hoped to be able to find a solution to the warmup, to test them there. The result is refined from these findings and it would therefore be prepared for the race.

Max Neukirchner
"I'm really speechless in the last outing I had not just two sliders on the front, but had also been thrown by almost highside out of the saddle that is very mysterious We.. now have pretty much tried everything and changed, and they responded the bike it should not like it. by the near-falls, it is clear that I not only around factor, but the it with the instant setup on my bike just does not go faster. When I watch the other drivers, then the drive into a lot faster in the corners and faster roll. The simply have more grip. When I try I'm about to fall over. I have no idea why because at the moment the fault is or if I've forgotten the other one on the weekend of motorcycling. I hope we find the problem until tomorrow. "

Stefan Kiefer (Team Manager):
"With the 27th place and Max are also disappointed with the team, that's for sure. Why is it in the end we know at the moment, otherwise we would have fixed it in qualifying. Firstly, it is a new track for Max and he has long used until it has found a rhythm, on the other hand, we did not find the vote that it is beneficial for fast lap times. We will now check everything again and then we see what tomorrow may bring out. "
