The most smiling faces this time were on Brad Binders side of the garage. The young South African managed to set the sixth time in the final lap of the qualifying session for the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.
Binder already had the tenth fastest time under his belt when he got a tow from his team mate Luis Salom. The Spaniard will start the race as ninth, from the third row. not scored any World Championship point yet, completing the front row.
With more rain pouring down it became more and more difficult to set a faster time. But Brad Binder had a good feeling about his chances and was one of the only few riders able to improve.
Brad Binder (6th): "Even though the conditions were bad and got worse every minute, I had a feeling I could go for it. Especially the last sector was very fast, certainly under these circumstances. I saw Luis and managed to follow him which helped me a lot in setting a fast lap time."
Luis Salom (9th): "I could not find a clean line to do a fast lap. Every time I tried I found others in my way waiting for a slipstream. This time I'd rather be in Brads place off course, but third row is not too bad. I know what I can do in the race. At least four or five of the riders that are in front of me on the grid, should end up behind me within a lap or so."
