With a rush to get back from The Netherlands, it is now already time for the eighth race of the season, on the tight and twisty German circuit of Sachsenring, where in 2011 the JiR Team won the final spot on the podium of the Moto2 class with Alex De Angelis.
The two JiR Team riders – Frenchman Johann Zarco and the Brazilian Eric Granado, did a good job last weekend in Assen, making steps forward on their personal learning curves, looking for further improvements aimed to gain some more confidence and make even more steps ahead.
In Assen the Team had the chance of touching for the first time some of the technical evolutions that will be applied on the two MotoBI's and in Germany they will continue this testing and development work, giving already an eye to the incoming GP of Italy that will be held soon and a race which is already exciting the team which is mainly composed of Italians.
The second half of the season is under way so this is a good time to review this very global project.
Gianluca Montiron – JiR Team Principal
"This year JiR made a change of strategy in order to implement a project devoted to young riders, a development process that should bring a sportive development in mid to long term. To JiR, therefore, this will be a year with ambitious yet demanding engagements, considering that we will be called to obtain sport results but also visibility and attention to investments to make the project grow. A young and promising French rider, Johann Zarco, is at the moment leading the Rookie Cup classification, he has made very exciting races since his debut, particularly in Estoril and Le Mans, so we can be happy, but we must always look forward in order to improve a mix of aspects: fastest lap, the gap he is in the race from the leaders and the rider's approach itself. We are determined in obtaining ambitious targets and after seven races we must improve because the 36 points made so far cannot satisfy us. The technical equipment is really important in Moto2 as well, we buy from TSR one of the best frames in the market and being the only team racing with this Japanese frame gives the idea on how much we believe in the project. Granado has the big opportunity to learn how to ride while racing since the very beginning in such a hard-fought category, Brazil doesn't have a program for the growth of young talents thus leading to long time before being able tn obtain any results in a World Championship. We will see what happens during the next races, several motorcycling Federations support national programs aimed to make young propositions grow, as an example in F1 the Venezuelan driver Maldonado is supported by his entire Nation, while in Brazil thanks to the personal sponsors of Granado we obtained good media coverage but nothing more for the Team."
