The first day of the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring has been a useful one for RW Racing GP. After the somewhat disappointing home race of the Dutch team – with Luis Salom missing out on the podium by 0,001 second – the visor was set on the next race. Both Luis Salom and Brad Binder complained about a lack of power in the Dutch TT in Assen. Therefor the pressure was on KTM to bring a better engine to Germany.
In the first two free practices it seemed a lot better than in Assen. Salom was third in the first session and tenth in the second. Binder came in as 21st when a shower hit the circuit near Chemnitz in the eastern part of Germany.
Luis Salom (10th): "I had a good start. Especially in the morning it was a good session for us. We tried something with the chassis. It wasn’t quite what we expected, but we know what to adjust for tomorrow. The new engine we got from KTM seems very good. At least much better than in Assen."
Brad Binder (21st): ""My start was not so good, but with some changes it was better in the afternoon. The track is short and because of that the lap times are very close. One tiny little mistake and you are six positions back. So tomorrow we have to be just a little faster to gain many places."
