This has not been the weekend the team expected for either riders Alex De Angelis and Yuki Takahashi at the Moto2´s tenth round of the season.
A technical problem on the front of Yuki Takahashi´s FTR bike constrained him to retire halfway through the race, while an unfortunate maneuver from Xavier Simeon 10 laps to the end of the race, prevented Alex De Angelis from being able to fight to be within the points.
The only thing left to do is to look forward to Brno, which will take place in less than a week.
Yuki Takahashi – 28th
“We had a problem with engine and with the gearbox during the warm up so we basically had no chance to work on the setting modifications we wanted to test, and after the warm up we changed the engine. From the warm up to the race we changed the setting, I don’t know why but during the race I had a lot of chatter, I was 2 seconds slower than yesterday and I preferred to stop because I wanted to work on the setting already thinking about Brno, I was in 25th position and I wasn’t going to take the risk to so I came into the pits and changed the front tire and when I went back out the problem was still there.”
Alex de Angelis - Not Classified
“A weekend to be forgotten, we have done everything possible to improve and we did it but the only thing we could aim for this weekend was to be within the point zone. The tires did not perform well this weekend; I felt I had no grip. The crash with Simeon that took me out when we still had 10 laps to go was surreal given that we were not fighting for the podium. He was completely in the wrong and didn’t even say he was sorry for what he did.”
Pietro Caprara – Moto2 Technical Director
“Bad luck for both of our riders today. Yuki had a problem with an abnormal vibration on the front of the bike that didn’t allow him to continue the race. The change of front tire seemed to be the solution to his problem but unfortunately it wasn’t and had to stop during the race. Alex had a very positive warm up this morning, where his race pace seemed to be good. The incident with another rider put an end to his race for the weekend at a circuit that he likes a lot.”
