JiR Moto2 Team Aragon Preview

Johann Zarco Misano 2012

The penultimate round in Europe for the World Motorcycle Championship on the circuit of Motorland Aragon takes place this weekend.

This important race precedes the classic triple-header in Japan, Malaysia and Australia that will keep the teams busy overseas for three weeks in a row, before the final race in Valencia.

The Spanish appointment scheduled for Sunday, September 30th sees the Frenchman Johann Zarco looking for a good performance to consolidate his leadership in the Rookie ranking and aspire to enter the top ten of the Moto2 World Championship. Aragon also will see the Brazilian Eric Granado to return, after a forced absence due to a shoulder injury.

Gianluca Montiron – JiR Team Principal
"Aragon is a nice track where riders can also make a difference, as in all the races we will work to make the most of the package at our disposal aware that Johann is making a satisfactory debut season in Moto2, but we have not yet seen him to make that leap that we all were expecting after the good start of the season. This year I paid the price of investing in a youth project, sometimes you must have the courage to venture this way and I am consoled by the fact of seeing that the riders that previously passed in Moto2 with my team have collected and are collecting worse results in the World rankings than they had been able to do with us. The goal this year is to excel with Zarco on the Rookies ranking, while for the Brazilian rider Granado we will evaluate his performance in Aragon: this is a track he should be confident with, as he has already raced here this year in the CEV Moto2 race so we’ll see if he can fill part of the gap that separates him from other competitors. For 2013 instead I will revise my sports programs in the face of new opportunities."
