After successfully completing two days of testing at Vallelunga, the Marc VDS Racing Team head to Misano, round 12 of the Moto2 World Championship, looking for their third win in a row.
Between them Mika Kallio and Scott Redding have won the last two races, with Kallio securing his first ever Moto2 win at Brno four weeks ago and Redding taking the victory in front of his home crowd at Silverstone last time out.
Redding goes into the Misano weekend focussed primarily on the championship, which he currently leads by 38 points from Pol Espargaro, but as he showed in Great Britain, the 20-year-old Briton won’t hesitate to push for the win should the opportunity present itself.
Kallio will also have one eye on the championship this weekend. The 30-year-old Finn currently lies fourth in the standings, but has his sights set firmly on Tito Rabat in third, having reduced the gap to just ten points.
Scott Redding #45:
“To win at home and extend my championship lead was a great feeling, but it’s back to work this weekend. We completed two days of testing at Vallelunga this week, with positive results, but now it’s time to race once again. The goal has to be to fight for a podium at Misano and, if possible, try and finish in front of Pol to extend my lead in the championship even further. It’s not going to be easy, but then when has it ever been easy in Moto2?”
Mika Kallio #36:
“We’ve had a good two days of testing here at Vallelunga, a track that is very similar to Misano. We’ve found a few small improvements with the bike, which means we go into this weekend with some confidence. The aim is to be top five on the timesheet from the first session onwards; if we can do that then I think a podium finish is the least we can expect come Sunday.”
