Complicated Race for Vermeulen and Forward Racing

Chris Vermeulen was back on MotoGP track as a substitute rider for Forward Racing as Colin Edwards was injury on Estoril. Vermeulen couln't do a lot, especially on the wet race. Forward racing also didn't have experience on MotoGP wet race. So for them, the race was just like a test.

Vermeulen said, “The race conditions today were very difficult but we had to go out and do it. For me it was a long time ago since I rode in the rain. I think that that for the bike and the team, they have limited experience in these conditions. Early on it was raining a lot and was very cold, making it was difficult to generate heat into the tires and we struggled a lot. The more laps we did and as the track dried a little bit, it suited our setting a lot more and I was able to go reasonably fast."

He continue, "At some point I was close to be as quick as any of the other CRT bikes during the race. I had to pit in because I had some vision problems with my helmet. It was unfortunate that it happened, it really affected our race. Its been a log time since I have ridden in the rain but I was glad to be back racing in MotoGP and hopefully the information we gave to the team and Suter can help for the future.”

Forward Racing Continues Progression with Vermeulen

The development of the Suter-BMW from the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team on the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans continued in a positive direction even in bad weather conditions.

Chris Vermeulen, rider of choice to substitute Colin Edwards, has been hard at work to find the right setup for the bike. The Australian rider managed to achieve a fast lap in 1´38.658, at only one tenth of Mattia Pasini, who will be right before him on tomorrow’s starting grid and faster by seven tenths according from the best time from Friday.

Tomorrow the rain could be yet again a determining factor for tomorrow’s French GP but the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team is ready for the race that will begin at 14:00 local time.

 “It was great to get out with the bike for the second time today, for the second day it felt more comfortable, I felt at home straight away. This morning we struggled a lot and in the end we found out what was causing it and finally made a big step with the bike, we kind of lost a lot of time this morning which was unfortunate and this afternoon the weather conditions was a bit mixed. I don’t know the bike well, I’m not 100% comfortable with it yet obviously and I just took my time. We got some dry time at the end of the session, just kept the set of tires and we got faster and faster, and more information with the bike. I think now we have a good idea on some changes, we’ve tried a lot of things and hopefully a direction ahead to make a reasonable bike to start the race. “

 “Today we did improved but because of the weather conditions we couldn’t improve as much as we had hoped. In the end we improved of a second compared to yesterday’s lap times we were aiming for two seconds but because of having half of the session with rain it wasn’t possible. On the other had it was good for Chris to do some laps in wet conditions. Overall we improved, we improved on the electronics side even if position wise we didn’t and it’s a shame.

The major modification today was on the electronics: to have more engine break in mid corner, less engine break on the straight and of course traction control.  We have to keep in mind that we are working with new electronics and we need some time to work on it.”

NGM Forward Racing Le Mans Preview

Le Mans will be the place to be for the fourth round of the World Championship. The now classic race of the World Championship takes place at a very particular time for the NGM Mobile Forward Racing team. Absent at the last GP in Portugal after Colin Edwards’s injury on this left collarbone, the team arrives on French soil with an old friend of the MotoGP.

Chris Vermeulen will be Texas Tornado’s substitute. While the American rider continues his post surgery recovery which will lead him to be back on the saddle of his Suter-BMW at Montmelo, the Australian comes back to the circuit in which he won his very first MotoGP race (2007) with his Lumber “7” on the furring.

In Moto2, after the first three rounds Alex De Angelis is in 10th position on the Moto2 World Standing with 14 points while Yuki Takahashi is still in search of points. The rider from San Marino shows a constant progress in this 2012 season and Le Mans could be the turning point for him. For Yuki France con be the ideal circuit for him to get his season started: the Japanese rider has always qualified in front row and even finished second on the podium in 2011.

Colin Edwards will be Back on Catalunya

After the accident during the Estoril GP, Colin Edward have to undergo surgery on Barcelona. Successful surgery perform by Doctor Javier Mir, and the latest update from Colin Edwards'c condition, he will back on Catalunya GP, June 3rd.

Doctor Javier give the suggestion to Colin Edwards and the team about the left collarbone's effect. Both Colin Edwards and team are agree not to race on Le Mans. NGM Forward Racing will ride with Chris Vermeulen on Le Mans GP.

Chris Vermeulen will Replace Colin Edwards on Le Mans

Chris Vermeulen will replace Colin Edwards on next race at Le Mans. The NGM Mobile Forward Racing has announced the press release about the replacement.

“In this unfortunate situation that sees Colin Edwards unable to race until the Catalunya GP, we take the opportunity to involve Chris Vermeulen in the team for the Le Mans GP. Several members of the team have previously worked with him and I believe that Chris will imediately find a good feeling with the team. Vermeulen is an expert rider in MotoGP with experience working with the electronics and the correct use of the tires, which are two areas in which we are currently working. Chris has previsouly won at Le Mans and knows the track well. I would like to wish Chris good luck and send all my best wishes for a quick recovery to Colin, who is on his way back home.”
