In qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez de la Frontera ranked Max Neukirch of the Kiefer Racing Team 14 Startlatz. He was able to improve steadily with his Kalex in the final session of the Moto2 class and is for the 2nd Round of the World Motorcycle Championship confident - if the weather is right.
Just the weather in qualifying was a sticking point. On the drying track in Jerez, the grip level changed from minute to minute. After it was still wet spots at the beginning, it was towards the end, though dry, but it was possible for any driver to drive really fast during peak hours.
On the technical side, the crew worked a lot of pine racing at the front suspension. Here it was indeed small steps but for tomorrow's race day, it now seems clear that changes need to look like. This one will test in the warmup and then decide on the races.
Max Neukirchner, 14 Place in 1:44,212 minutes.
"It was very difficult in this qualifying Especially at the beginning there were a few wet spots and I were in the first round and almost crashed That was just good times then I'm fairly quickly... come into the kick, I could raise myself constantly and was always placed in the top ten. At the second stop we changed something on the fork, but this did not work the way we had imagined. For tomorrow we have to surprise us which can give it to weather, then we shall see. "
Stefan Kiefer (Team Manager):
"That was basically the first dry practice of the weekend and no one knew right where it is really I think that was just for not all that when Max was out was he always like to tenth place... After the stop, where we changed a few things that we could indeed drive a faster lap time, but have not really achieved the improvement we had hoped for. If there tomorrow to be dry but we know now what we need to change the chassis so it gets better. I think there are points tomorrow and the 14th place we are in a good position. "
