Gran Premio d'Italia, Mugello circuit. These few words could be enough to make the emotion rise waiting for one of the most exciting races of the entire season, on the track that is the temple of speed where thousands of passionate fans will join their idols to enjoy and support from both the stands and the surrounding hills. A strong emotion not only for the riders, who here will find a demanding and adrenaline-drenched track, but also for most of the Team JiR's technicians who feel the GP of Italy as their home GP.
This circuit has always been good for the Team in the Moto2 Championship, with the MotoBI on the podium in 2012 with Simone Corsi and in fourth place in 2011 with Alex De Angelis, just less than two seconds from the winner.
The 2012 has already reached its turning point and taken the downhill run for the second half, the two riders Johann Zarco and Eric Granado have already shown good promise, they are now called on to further capitalize their potential. The Frenchman is currently leading the Rookie Of The Year classification while the Brazilian is making solid progress.
Gianluca Montiron – JiR Team Principal
"Since the very beginning of the season Johann Zarco has managed to distinguish himself, considering how technical the Mugello circuit is it would be good to see him fight with the top riders, an important sign for the rest of the season. Granado already knows the track, thanks to the appearances we have made recently, after his progress in Sachsenring we will see what he will be able to do in such a demanding circuit as Mugello is in terms of riding technique and physical condition. I'm expecting relevant marks from the Italian GP, it will be followed by a long time of inactivity during which we will make some considerations about the 'youth' project, analyzing it from a 360 degrees vision, and we will evaluate if and how to proceed if we will have the needed confirmations or, on the contrary, to change our path, being well conscious that for JiR the very fundamental thing is to be a protagonist for victory."
Johann Zarco – JiR Moto2 Team Rider
"I am very much looking forward to Mugello this weekend. Since I debuted in the world championship in 2009 I have had some good results at the track. But this is not the most important thing this weekend. Instead we must look at improvements being made over the weekend. We have to keep our consistency throughout practice and qualifying and learn from what happened last time out at Sachsenring. I have a good team around me and my manager Laurent Fellon is always watching me from around the circuit. This weekend I want to aim for the top six, I think that would be a good result."
Eric Granado – JiR Moto2 Team Rider
"My expectations for this race of Mugello is to improve even further, just like I did in my last three races, we know that the weather is too hot in Italy, so in this week I'm preparing a lot in the heat, to avoid problems during training and racing . Mugello is a very particular track with different kinds of corners and is very technical because it is very fast! I hope to do a good job with my team, and learn and gain experience with the best riders!"
