Home Race Excitement for Niccolo Antonelli

Niccolo Antonelli Assen 2012

Niccolò Antonelli is pleased to be returning to Italian soil this week after a difficult weekend caused by the inclement northern European weather at Sachsenring. Despite the tricky conditions Niccolò left Germany with another positive result under his belt and with the valuable experience of completing a full race on a wet-to-dry track. Now he heads to a circuit he knows well feeling determined to do well on his home Grand Prix debut.

Niccolò Antonelli  “I was satisfied in the end in Germany even though I always expect more of myself. As a young rider I am never satisfied but I am learning race by race and gathering the experience to realise that sometimes you have to make do and look ahead to the next opportunity. Mugello will be a wonderful occasion for me, I know the track well and I love it to bits. There will also be a lot of my friends there and I would like to put on a good race for them. I certainly be trying my best to do so.”

Fausto Gresini “I raced for many years in the 125cc class, which is now Moto3, and I am very excited by what I am seeing with Niccolò. He is a young man with a lot of determination to make it to the top and some times we have to hold him back. We are putting a lot of effort into overseeing his development because we are convinced that he has huge potential. He had a good race in difficult and changing conditions in Germany on Sunday and now at Mugello, a circuit he knows well, he will be able to perform to his best. There is always a risk of getting carried away at your home race so our advice will be to stay calm and approach the weekend in the right way.”
