The German Grand Prix was finally held in good weather today, and the race ended with more points and positives for both Team JiR riders. For Frenchman Johann Zarco it was a hard-fought race from 14th on the grid, but the 21-year-old rode a strong race to take 11th place on the last lap and more valuable World Championship points.
His 16-year-old team-mate, Eric Granado has spent the entire weekend making big strides forward in his apprenticeship on the MotoBI machine. After his best qualifying performance yet, the Brazilian finished the race in 27th place, despite going off the track early in the race. Race winner was Moto2 World Championship leader, Spaniard Marc Marquez who has stretched his lead at the top of the standings.
Johann Zarco
"I can be happy as I could finish the race and also at the end I was fighting with Esteve Rabat and we were just two of us and I could beat him on the last lap so this is a big positive. Tthe negative point is that I could not be faster than the Friday in first free practice when we improved the bike, but this improvement stopped and in the race was difficult to follow the others, so I had to change my lines to keep the pace with them. I think I need to set my MotoBI up better, so we can follow the others but at least I've got more points for the championship so that is a positive. It is always important to finish the race and never give up."
Eric Granado
"The race was good, I made a good start, and my first laps were positive and I was in 25th position and battling with other riders and learning all the time. Then, by the sixth lap I went off the track so I lost so much time returning to the track and after that I had to try and catch up. Then I did my best laps after getting back on the track and now my best laps are about 2.3 or 2.4 seconds from the leaders so I think this is good and shows I am improving. So now I know I need to work so much on my physical condition for Mugello as it will be hotter there! I have to say again, my team has helped me again to make these improvements."
