Difficult race for Kent and Rossi in Indianapolis

Danny Kent Moto2 Indianapolis 2013

The Tech 3 Racing Team experienced a challenging Moto2 race at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway today, with Danny Kent and Louis Rossi finishing 23rd and 24th respectively in hot conditions.

Hopes were high that British rider Kent could mount a challenge for his second top 15 finish of 2013 after a promising weekend saw him lap at a competitive pace throughout practice and qualifying.

This afternoon’s 25-lap race though proved to be a tough one as Kent experienced a tyre chatter issue from the early stages that prevented him from maintaining an early challenge for the points.

He then encountered a mystery pain in his left arm and given the physically demanding nature of the 16-turn Brickyard track, Kent had no option but to slow his pace and he finished one place higher than teammate Rossi.

Rossi never found a comfortable feeling with his Mistral 610 machine, despite the best efforts of his Tech 3 Racing crew to improve his confidence. The Frenchman still rode a determined race and he gained more priceless experience heading into the second half of his rookie Moto2 season.

Danny Kent 23rd – 3 points
“It was a very tough race and obviously not what we expected. I had high hopes of a good result after a strong warm-up but after a few laps I started to have a chatter issue and that made it difficult. And out of the blue I got a sharp pain in my left arm and I got slower and slower. I am really disappointed but we don’t have to wait long to put things right and I am confident I can bounce back in Brno next weekend.”

Louis Rossi 24th – 4 points
“I am not happy with this result. I lost some confidence in qualifying after a reasonable start to the weekend and in the race it was really difficult. I just couldn’t get into a decent rhythm and 24th is not anything like the result we had hoped for. We go to Brno now where I expect to be much more competitive.”
