Mugello Welcomes A Confident Hector Barbera

Hector Barbera Mugello 2012

The Pramac Ducati Team heads to both Ducati and Pramac’s home track, around the Tuscan hills, this week for the last of a pushing triple-header of European races in Italy, Germany and Holland.

The spectacular Mugello circuit is one of the fastest in the world. The main straight is over a kilometer long and the Premier Class riders could do up over 320km/hr before dropping into the downhill right hand corner at the end. The track is also one of the widest on the calendar and boasts some high-speed chicanes and frequent changes of gradient. It generally brings some superb racing, all played out in the unrivalled atmosphere created by the fanatical Italian fans who throng the hillsides to cheer for their heroes.

The white and green rider, Hèctor Barberà, approaches the Italian Grand Prix with a positive and optimistic mood after the great battle at Sachsenring. He knows it won’t be easy because Mugello is a long and technical circuit but the challenge of ride at the Pramac’s home is an extra motivation for him to do a great race. Hèctor also has strong memories at the Italian track, achieving important podium in the past years, like in 2007 aboard on his Aprilia 250cc or in 2004 in the smallest class.

Hèctor Barberà
“We are going to Mugello, thinking about what happened last Sunday. And, after the great battle, in Germany, I’m very confident and motivated to also do a good race here, in Italy. I like Mugello, it is one of the most beautiful tracks in the world and I hope that the weather will be nice. The Pramac Racing crew always does a fantastic job and I believe that we can make another step ahead. We have to be positive after all”

Francesco Guidotti
“As always, we will work tirelessly on our bike to give Hèctor the most suitable bike possible, therefore he should achieve a brilliant result at the Mugello circuit, which is one of the most spectacular tracks.”

Barbera Crashes but Recovers During Difficult Qualifying Session

Hector Barbera Sachsenring 2012

Sole Pramac Racing rider Hèctor Barberà fought hard today to achieve the 12th place in qualifying and a 4th row start for tomorrow’s eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

The Premier Class riders were one again unlucky with the weather during both the final free practice and the qualifying sessions. Having also struggled with the mixed weather conditions yesterday, Hèctor, who had led the timesheet for part of the heat, finished the damp morning session in fifth place and posted a best lap time of 1’33.302.

In the afternoon, the qualifying session took place with a heavy rain that soaked the 3.671 km German track. During qualifying, Hèctor crashed out on the slippery surface while he was braking into turn twelve, escaping relatively unscathed but a little bit sore. After the crash, the Spaniard was able to complete the session, trying to reacquaint with the track, even if he wrapped up the day losing some important grid positions for tomorrow’s race.

Despite that, the Green Energy Team rider is confident that his race pace will be good enough to challenge for another brilliant result tomorrow, during the 30-lap race scheduled at 13:00 local time.

Hèctor Barberà
“It was a difficult day, especially due to the tricky weather conditions. From the morning’s session, we had rain and during the qualifying session I had to grit my teeth after the crash. I was braking on entry to turn 12 but, unfortunately, I lost the front, crashing at one of the fastest points of this track. I was able to regain the confidence both with my Ducati and with the wet surface, even if I found some riders on my line during the last minutes of the qualifying session and I struggled to set a fast lap time to start tomorrow’s round from a better grid position”.

Francesco Guidotti – Pramac Racing Team Manager
“I have to congratulate Hèctor because after the crash, he re-joined the session with strong determination. We could have achieved a better grid position, but the important point was that we found a good setup in the wet. Now we will hope for a dry warm up to be sure to have a great setup also with this track condition. In summary, it was a hard but positive session for our team.”

Positive Day for Hector Barbera Both in Dry and Wet

Hector Barbera Sachsenring 2012

Day one of the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland at the Sachsenring circuit started with sunny and blazing weather in the morning session, but with a fully wet track in the afternoon’s free practice after a briefly torrential downpour.

With the track surface wet, compared to the morning session, lap times were slower as a result. Ducati Pramac Racing rider Hèctor Barberà had two positive sessions both in the wet and in the dry, and he worked with his team to find the best race setup possible for the different surface conditions.

The 25-year-old rider finished today's sessions in tenth place at the twisty German circuit, setting a best time of 1’23.091 in the dry and stopping the clock with a time of 1’33.147 during the wet session. Tomorrow’s final practice and qualifying sessions are expected to be run in dry conditions, but a light rain has been forecast for Sunday's 30 lap-race.

Hèctor Barberà
“It was an encouraging start: I felt competitive and I had great confidence with my Ducati whether it was rain or not. I had a fast pace and during the afternoon session, with the wet track surface, I enjoyed a lot to ride on this circuit. We found a good setup for our bike and we were only 0.6 seconds from the fastest Ducati Factory rider, Valentino Rossi. Tomorrow we will start from the positive work of today to achieve the best grid position possible”.

Francesco Guidotti – Pramac Racing Team Manager
“We were satisfied with the work done today. We found two great starting points for our machine's setup, both with dry and wet weather conditions. We're confident about our potential and now we'll see where we can get tomorrow."

Pramac Ducati Racing Preview Sachsenring

Hector Barbera Assen 2012

After its Dutch foray in Assen just three days ago, the Pralac Racing Team is arriving to Germany, for the second race in a row this weekend at the Sachsenring circuit for the Eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deuthscheland. It will be the sequel of a tough fortnight for the riders, with this race followed immediately by the Gran Premio d’Italia in Mugello.

Located in the heartland of the former East Germany’s once illustrious motorcycle racing industry, the Sachsenring is built right next to the old road course, a characteristic that the track shares with Brno in the nearby Czech Republic, which the paddock will visit in mid August. It is the second shortest track on the calendar and features a series of tight and relatively slow corners mixed in with some dazzlingly fast ones – including a stomach-churning downhill right hander which was added in 2003.

The wooded hills of the Sachsenring have produced some stunning races for the Spanish rider Hèctor Barberà in the last years, as in 2004 when Hèctor achieved a great second place aboard his Aprilia 125cc or in 2010 where he produced one of his best performances of his MotoGP career.

The 25-year old put up a brilliant performance last time out in Holland and finished in seventh place and now he arrives to Germany with a confident and enthusiastic mood.

Hector Barbera
“I feel very good after the seventh place in Germany: a shining race that we needed for our confidence. We will tale more power from it for future races, especially for the next two.  Now it’s the time for Germany: the track is quite well suited to my riding style and even though it is short it has some fast and flowing corners. I like the track and tend to be quite fast there so I hope to have a great weekend. Our objective as always is to be in the top ten, fighting with the other riders to catch the best result as possible”

Francesco Guidotti – Pramac Racing Team Manager
“We are going to Germany with some optimism, trying to repeat the more than positive performance at Assen. Our reference point remains the Ducati Factory Team, as Hèctor could stay with its riders.”

Positive First Day for Hector Barbera in Holland

Hector Barbera Assen 2012

Just few days after the British Grand Prix, the Pramac Ducati Team was back on track in Holland today, with Spaniard Hèctor Barberà showing a good pace at the historic Assen circuit.

In unusually dry conditions, the Green Energy Team's sole rider started off the day in 7th place in the morning free practice and hoped to improve further in the afternoon. However this was not to be as he was only able to better his morning time by 0.020 seconds, slipping back through the order after a small crash.
The Spaniard is confident that he can move up the timesheets tomorrow, using the setup of the bike with which he crashed during the free practice, due to a mistake while he was changing gear.

Tomorrow’s final practice and qualifying sessions are expected to be run in dry conditions and this should be a great weather forecast for the Green Team.

Hèctor Barberà – Pramac Racing Team Rider –

“It was a satisfying day for us. In the morning session I had a good setup on my Ducati Desmosedici and I was able to stop the clock in 1’35.296, finishing in 7th place.
Unfortunately during the second free practice, I made a mistake at the entrance of a corner while I was changing gear and I crashed out. This made us change our initial plans because we lost some time fixing the second bike. Despite this small hitch I’m confident with my crew’s work and I know that we could have a more brilliant qualifying day, tomorrow.”

Francesco Guidotti – Pramac Racing Team Manager
“Despite the small crash at the beginning of the afternoon’s session, we are gratified with today’s result. The bright spot of this warm Thursday in Holland was that the top ten riders were all within less then four tenths of a second, so tomorrow we will have a hard-fought one-hour qualifying session and we hope to wrap up in the front rows.”

Pramac Racing Team Continues its adventure this week with a trip across the North Sea to Holland

Hector Barbera Silverstone 2012

Just days after the difficult race in the United Kingdom, the Pramac Ducati Team continues its adventure this week with a trip across the North Sea to Holland, in preparation for the seventh round of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship.

The White and Green Team arrived at Assen to setup for the TT Assen Grand Prix, which, as tradition dictates, is always held on the last Saturday in June and it is the first GP in a row of three races.

Héctor Barberá heads to Holland in high spirits. The Pramac Team’s sole rider has fond memories of the circuit, having scored the first podium of his career there and, after a disappointing race at Silverstone, he is ready to kick off his new challenge.

The Assen circuit, sometimes referred to as the ‘cathedral’ by race fans due to its status and historical significance in racing, is the only circuit to have been part of the Grand Prix World Championship calendar since its inception.
The circuit has undergone many changes over that time. Initially runs on public roads it has evolved into one of the most physically demanding and technical tracks in Grand Prix with high-speed chicanes and varied camber changes.

Hèctor Barberà – Pramac Racing Team Rider –

“The good thing about having races so close together is that you don't lose your rhythm and if things don't go your way in one race you quickly have the opportunity to make things right. That is the case for us because Sunday at Silverstone was a bit of a disaster. Now we can keep working hard and I am sure that at Assen, one of my favourite circuits, I can be fast with my Ducati. I had my first podium here and I always like it. Assen has some fast corners like Silverstone and I can adapt well. We had a good feeling at Silverstone during the practices, so hopefully we can recreate that this weekend.”

Francesco Guidotti – Pramac Racing Team Manager -

“The TT Assen Grand Prix will be a difficult campaign, a treacherous track due to the tricky and unpredictable weather conditions.
We are indeed ready to fight head-strongly with the other riders in order to achieve a brilliant result.”

Hector Barbera Le Mans 2012

Hector Barbera is heading Catalunya with big expectation to get more point. The Pramac rider said that he really like Catalunya anda ready to fight to get a better result.

“Catalunya is an event that I always love. It is the second round of the year in Spain and signals the end of the first quarter of the 2012 campaign.

The last race didn't go at too badly considering the good points that we were able to take home. Ninth place was a good result but we have to target to a better result and I hope we can move up the scale this weekend. I like Montmeló a lot, it is one of those circuits that tends to suit me, with fast and technical corners.

We have to work hard from the first session of the race, give it our best and the results will come. I have got good memories of this track because I had one of the best races of my entire career here in 2004, so i'm optimistic about this weekend.”

Difficult Race for Hector Barbera

Hector Barbera Estoril 2012

At 13:00 local time, the Grande Premio de Portugal 2012 got underway with sunny skies and dry track, after two days of practice that took place in mixed weather conditions. The White and Green rider didn’t got a brilliant start and dropped from eighth to eleventh place on the first lap, as he struggled to find confidence with his GP12.

On lap two Hector was able to pass the factory Ducati rider Nicky Hayden, but he was bound to stay in 10th place, because of a shoulder pain that didn’t allow him to get the full potential of his bike. His top-ten position has him into the topten in the overall World Championship standings with 19 points after three rounds.

The Pramac Racing team will remain at Estoril tomorrow for a MotoGP test session before heading to Le Mans in two weeks’ time for round four.

Hèctor Barberà
"I am bitterly disappointed with today. After a lot of hard work by the crew this weekend we started the race with a very competitive setup and I was feeling good. On lap five I started to struggle a lot due to a physical issue with my shoulder and I wasn’t able to use the full potential of my GP12, losing the group in front of me that included Stefan Bradl and Ben Spies. Toward the end I decided to manage my position and I preferred to take home some important points in order to remain into the top ten in the overall World Championship”.

Francesco Guidotti – Team Manager Pramac Racing –
"The race was more difficult than we expected, due to a less-than-stellar start. In addiction, at the beginning, Hèctor struggled to overtake the rider in front of him, losing the contact with Bradl and Spies and he stayed in 10th place for the last 26-laps. Now we are focusing on the next race, which will took place in a couple of weeks in France".

Pramac Racing Estoril Preview

Hector Barbera Jerez 2012

After a good Championship start, the Pramac Racing Team can’t wait to face a new challange, that will take place on Estoril Circuit, Portugal, next weekend. This is the 13th edition of the Estoril GP, during which Hector won one race but made it the podium a lot.

The layout of the Autodromo Fernando Pires de Silva is contrasting, featuring one of the longest main straights in MotoGP and one of the slowest corners. Several other twisty sections cause the lowest average speed in the Championship but the 200km/h at the fifth turn and the final Parabolica corner are two of the toughest tests of any rider's skill and bravery.

Besides, the circuit of Estoril, is just seven kilometres from the Atlantic and it is notorious for fastest changes in weather, with spells of warm sunshine often interrupted by wild gusts of cold wind and rain.

In this circuit, Hèctor have had an ups and downs of strange emotions (thanks to several podiums and stirring races) and small disappointments.

Certainly, the Spanish rider likes Estoril and he hopes to continue to be in the top ten this season aboard of his Ducati GP12.

Francesco Guidotti
“Estoril is a difficult track, which combines slow sectors with other fast. The last corner is without a doubt the most difficult. The rain could shuffle the cards: It may rain for all three regions of free practice, qualifying and the race. Despite that I’m confident with the team’s work and with Hèctor’s abilities, hope to achieve a good race result."

Tough Race and Fun for Hector Barbera

Hector Barbera Jerez 2012 Grid

Jerez is the hardest track for Barbera and track conditions were not favorable, but the pilot of the Team Pramac has fought tirelessly. Now the target moves in Portugal, at Estoril, where, in a week there will be the Gp of Portugal.

Hector Barbera
"For me it was a difficult week-end. Although Spain, Jerez is a track on which I can not go fast. It is not enough, the track was stained with moisture and this puts me in crisis, because they are very sensitive to the continuous changes in structure generated from the asphalt in these conditions. But I got caught by the bad thoughts and I also enjoyed battling Rossi and Spies. Eventually I groped an attack, but was afraid to mess it up with a cut, too much risk. Well, for me has passed a tough race, now we look to the future, in Estoril. "

Francesco Guidotti - Pramac Racing Team Manager
"We knew that today was not an easy day because Hector does not digest the track and even the asphalt mottled of moisture. But he has struggled with more experienced pilots and made him understand that we can look ahead with confidence. I congratulate my team that worked very well and gave up a lot Barberà a motorcycle. "

Difficult Day Due To Tricky Track Conditions for Pramac Racing

After a morning’s practice session that took place on a fully wet track, the weather, during the qualifying of this afternoon, has given to riders a little break, even if the weather forecast, here at Jerez de la Frontera, doesn’t promise anything good for tomorrow’s race.

The Spanishman had been struggling to be comfortable on his Ducati machine, which had held him back from contesting for faster times and a good grid position in the practice sessions. Qualifying saw the Green and White Team delivered a new set up offering better front feel, which was evident as Hèctor moved up the timesheet, before having a wide over the track.

The 25 years old rider wrapped up a decent 12th spot on the grid and will start from the fourth row on tomorrow’s 27 laps race that will start at 14:00 local time.

Hèctor Barbera
"To be honest I’m not happy with the result of the day because I think that the fourth row on the grid it’s not my place. Despite that I have worked hard with my crew to gain even more grip on the front tyre with a wet track conditions and feel in my GP12 for tomorrow’s race. I struggled a lot with these tricky track conditions but we still have tomorrow’s warm up to reduce my less confidence to a more comfortable level.

Francesco Guidotti – Team Manager Pramac Racing
"In the whole day we managed to find a setting that increased Hèctor’s feeling in the entrance of the corners and this kind of work has improved also the turnability of our bike, so Hèctor has been a little bit faster and more consistent. We achieved a decent spot on the grid for tomorrow’s race and I’m confident on our potential if we have a good start when the red light will be switched off”.

Now A Good Feeling to Hector Barbera and the Team

Hector Barbera Losail 2012

First exit on the Losail circuit, Qatar, floodlit at night for the classic desired by the organizers. Today's program included a practice session of 45 minutes which saw a good debut Pramac Ducati's Hector Barbera.

Hector Barbera:
"In a Grand Prize, the most important thing is to start with the right foot and, without overdoing it and trying to better prepare the race, I think I've done a good turn. I immediately found a good feeling with my bike and times have been interesting since the early releases. The problem, for now, are the tires I have tried to use a tough front, but after five laps the bike started to slide. I tried to fix the situation with a soft back, but the problem remains. Do not worry, we will certainly fix it for the race. The potential, and my bike, there are, and how ".

Guidotti Francisco:
"All in all, a good start and I can talk about a positive turn. Of course, soon to embark on predictions, but the feeling among our team and the pilot is very good indeed. At Ducati, Nicky Hayden is now the reference, really fast, so, watching him, we can still improve and be among the first teams that use the Desmosedici. "
