Federal Oil Gresini Review Jerez Moto2 Day 2

Aboard the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Suter, Xavier Siméon finished today the Qualifying session of the Spanish Grand Prix in 12th position with a best lap time of 1’43”615: a disappointing result, considering that the Belgian rider has always occupied one of the top four spots in all the previous practice sessions, but that doesn’t affect the team’s high expectations ahead of tomorrow’s race.

Siméon, who will start from the fourth row, will continue to work with the team to overcome the grip issues encountered this afternoon in the Spanish heat, with the goal of finding the speed he has always showed throughout the entire weekend, and therefore hoping for a comeback.

Lorenzo Baldassarri - Team Gresini Moto2 - will start from 20th position on the grid, his best qualifying result since he debuted in this category last March in Qatar. The young Italian was able to find a better set-up for his Suter, solving some grip problems he experienced yesterday.

Xavier Simeon (12th - 1'43"615)
“This morning in the third free practice session we were very fast, keeping a steady pace, and I thought that qualifying would have gone more or less in the same way. Due to the strong heat, however, the track has changed a lot and I struggled to find enough rear grip. We knew that the track conditions would get worse, like it happened yesterday, but we didn’t expect to struggle so much. We will therefore work and analyze all the data ahead of the race, with the aim to be more competitive in these conditions. Obviously this is not the position that we expected to get: having been always among the top four in all practice sessions, I was hoping for the first or second row”.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (20th - 1'43"978)
“In the end our day was not so bad: now we are following the right path with the setting and the situation has improved. Obviously we're still missing something because we are a bit late, but I'm confident for the race: with a good set-up, in fact, despite the lack of grip, you can handle the bike in a better way when it starts to slide. Tomorrow morning we will continue to work in this direction”.

Go&Fun Honda Gresini Review Jerez MotoGP Day 2

Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista and Scott Redding will start respectively from the tenth and eighteenth place on the grid of tomorrow’s Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez de la Frontera.

In a very hot and sunny day, Alvaro Bautista was able to enter the QP2, which decides the first 12 positions on the grid, setting the second fastest time during Qualifying 1 with 1’39”595; then the Spaniard failed to improve his time in the decisive session, eventually closing it in tenth place with a fastest lap time of 1’39”751. Alvaro complained about a lack of front grip in corner entry together with a strong rear wheel spin under acceleration: tomorrow, during the warm up, the team will try some big changes to the RC213V set -up ahead of the race, looking for an improvement .

His team mate Scott Redding, author of a harmless crash, finished QP1 in eighth place with a time of 1’40”453, therefore tomorrow he will line up his bike on the sixth row.

Alvaro Bautista (10th - 1'39"751)
“Unfortunately the situation has not changed compared to yesterday: we tried several different settings, without finding a solution. I have no front grip into the corner, then when I open the throttle the rear wheel starts immediately to spin and therefore I lose a lot of time. Too bad, I was hoping for a better weekend, but this is the reality at the moment. Tomorrow will be a very tough race, especially for me, that I am not comfortable on the bike; our goal, however, doesn’t change: we want to cross the finish line and collect some points. Perhaps tomorrow morning, during the warm up, we could try a last set-up modification, in an effort to improve, although actually all the work carried out so far have not had any effect. Unfortunately we can’t go beyond a certain limit”.

Scott Redding (18th - 1'40"453)
“There is still much work to do if we want to find more grip: I have no traction and I struggled a lot today, so tonight we will analyze all the data with the team in an attempt to improve. I also had a small crash in qualifying: I was under braking, and as soon as I released the brakes I lost the front. The bike was more or less okay and I managed to bring it back to the pits, then I set my best lap time, but we have to work hard if we want to catch the group of riders in front of us. Since the beginning of the weekend unfortunately the situation has remained the same, with the exception of the braking, which is improved; at the rear, however, there is too much spinning at the moment”.

Ducati Review Jerez MotoGP Day 2

Andrea Dovizioso has qualified in sixth place for the Spanish Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship, which will take place tomorrow at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit. The Ducati Team rider, who had concluded the three free practice sessions that give direct access into Q2 in eighth place, managed to take another couple of tenths off his time in the final qualifying session, using two extra-soft rear tyres. The Italian’s second run powered him to sixth place, one second away from the top slot.

Day 2 of the Jerez action was not so positive for Cal Crutchlow, who only stepped back onto his GP14 yesterday after missing the Argentina GP due to an injury in his right hand he suffered at Austin. Battling against increasing pain due to effort and fatigue, the British rider tried to end the day with a decent performance, but had to settle for fourth in Q1, which meant that he did not go through to Q2. As a result Cal will start from row 5 in tomorrow’s race.

Michele Pirro, the Ducati Test Team rider, qualified in seventeenth place after a positive morning when he lapped just outside the top 10. The Italian rider will start from the sixth row.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 6th (1m39.222s)
“I am very happy with qualifying and the time that I did, even more so because I did it on my own. I think I really managed to get the best out of my bike in these very difficult conditions because the temperature is very high for the tyres we had available. I got an unexpected second row start and this will help us for the race, because Jerez is a narrow track, and in the early laps you can lose a lot of time if you don’t start up at the front. I’m a bit worried for the race, because our pace is not so quick and above all there is a performance drop after several laps: when it’s so hot, everything becomes more difficult for us. In my view, after the top 5 riders there will be a small group with a similar pace, and we’ll have to fight it out with them in the race: starting from row 2 will surely help us.”

Cal Crutchlow (Ducati Team #35) – 14th (1m39.849s)
“I am a bit disappointed with the end result and the qualifying position, but I think it was as to be expected for this weekend. We really struggled with the grip at the front and the rear of the bike, and I didn’t have confidence to push with the bike as much as possible. When I tried I made some mistakes and was at my limit. However I tried my best but the times were very close and it was difficult to get through to Q1, I was disappointed about that. The hand is getting sorer every session so it’s becoming difficult, but thanks also to the assistance the Clinica Mobile are giving me, I will try my best to do a good race tomorrow.”

Michele Pirro (Ducati Team #51) – 17th (1m40.239s)
“This morning didn’t go bad because I was close to the top 10, only that this afternoon we tried some new solutions and I was unable to improve. I only used one extra-soft tyre and perhaps this penalized me; maybe if I had used another I could have shaved off a few more vital tenths. For sure my grid position is not an easy one. It’s a shame because throughout the weekend we had some pretty positive practice sessions. However my feeling with the GP14 is much better than it was in Argentina.”

Repsol Honda Review Jerez MotoGP Day 2

Marc Marquez, marking his 100th GP start here in Jerez, now celebratesa 59% ratio of poles in all MotoGP starts (13 in 22 races) after clinching thetop spot for the Spanish GP, breaking the lap record en route with teammateDani Pedrosa in third under scorching weather conditions.

Before qualifying, Marc and his team calculated that a three-stop runwould be possible during the 15 minute session, which was important as the lifeof the soft rear tyre is optimum for only one flying lap - especially withtrack temperatures in the fifties. Dani opted for the more normal two stopstrategy, completing two flying laps with each tyre, and clocked a time of1'38.630 placing him on the front row in third for tomorrow’s 27 lap race. Marcrecorded just one flying lap on each exit but on his third and final run, hestole Lorenzo’s lap record from 2008 (1'38.189) - the last season in whichthere were still qualifying tyres in MotoGP - and recorded the fastest ever lapon two wheels at Jerez with a time of 1'38.120 on lap 8 of 8.

Marc Marquez – 1st (1’38.120)
“I am very happy with this pole position, as it was hard fought and Iwasn't expecting it. We are suffering a little more here than at other tracks, but despite this we are still at the same level as Lorenzo and Dani. We changedour strategy at the last minute; I asked Santi if it would be possible to usethree soft tyres, and he said that it was. It was all last minute and I am satisfiedwith how it worked out, but we know that tomorrow is the important day. Jorgeand, above all, Dani have a great pace”

Dani pedrosa – 3rd (1’38.630)
"We took a step forward with the bike setup today and also wentbetter with the race tyres. In the qualifying session we tried to do as well aspossible, but it is always difficult to put in a really fast lap. Tomorrow wewill try to get a good start, then have a good race”

Repsol Honda Preview Jerez MotoGP

Fresh from their third consecutive victory of 2014 at the Red Bull Argentina Grand Prix, the Repsol Honda team are en route to Spain with no time to rest. The Jerez GP may feel like the true start to the season for Spanish duo Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, when they have the opportunity to race in front of their home fans for the first time of the year.

A tight and twisty circuit, Jerez has hosted a motorcycle grand prix since 1987, soon after it was built, and hosted Formula 1 races during the 1990s. With a track length of 4,428km, Jerez features eight right turns and five lefts and circulates in a clockwise direction with a trademark final turn that has seen some legendary clashes – most recently between Jorge Lorenzo and Marc last year – when Marc came out on top to finish second behind teammate Dani.

Marc, who celebrates his 100th GP start in Jerez next Sunday, has taken second place on three occasions at the Andalusian track – in 2009, 2012 and 2013- but victory here has eluded him so far. Dani has an enviable record, consistently reaching the Jerez podium for the past nine years. This tally includes two MotoGP wins in 2008 and 2013, five second place finishes, and a 250cc win in his second world championship season of 2005. Included in that string are eight front row starts, with two MotoGP poles and a 250cc pole.

Marc Marquez - Championship Standing: 1st - 75 points
“Argentina was only a few days ago but we are already on our way to Spain! We had a really good weekend, taking another important 25 points, but now we go to Jerez where I know Dani and Jorge are very strong. The crowd and ambiance is very special there and it gives you special motivation to perform at your maximum level. After three fly away races it will be nice to arrive back in Europe for a few ‘normal’ races, I’ll try to relax a little and prepare myself ready for Friday’s FP1”

Dani Pedrosa - Championship Standing: 2nd - 56 points
“It was a good weekend in Argentina although I would have liked to be in the battle for the victory, but I really enjoyed the race and the track! Now we have no break, and next weekend we race in Jerez! This is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar, I really enjoy seeing all the fans and racing back in Spain after three long races away. As usual we will start working hard from the Friday and hope to continue with the same momentum that we found in Argentina”

Federal Oil Gresini Preview Jerez Moto2

On the eve of the Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend at Jerez de la Frontera, the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 travels to the south of Spain in high spirits thanks to the amazing second place grabbed by Xavier Siméon in last weekend’s Grand Prix of Argentina.

The result achieved by the Belgian rider has indeed given a great boost of confidence to the team, which is preparing to face the first European event of the season with a very clear goal, that's to stay on top.

Also the Team Gresini Moto2 has good reasons to look to the next event with optimism: at the Andalusian track Lorenzo Baldassarri can in fact take advantage of the experience gathered during the winter tests.

Xavier Simeon
“In Argentina we could finally turn into a good result the excellent work we have been doing since ghe beginning of the season: I’ve reached a very good relationship with the team and a good feeling with the bike, so now we can say that our level is really high, allowing us to be fast and to fight for the top positions everywhere. In Jerez we have already completed a good test during the winter, so we expect to confirm the good performance of the first three races”.

Lorenzo Baldassarri
“I would have wanted to take a good result before heading to Jerez, however in Spain my determination will be the same, because I’m aware of my potential: in Argentina, in fact, without the engine oil leak my race could have been good. In addition, I like a lot the Jerez track and this winter we have been strong in testing, so we will definitely take advantage of some useful references”.

Go&Fun Honda Gresini Preview Jerez MotoGP

The Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini is willing to open a new chapter of his so far unfortunate 2014 campaign with the arrival of MotoGP on the European continent, this weekend at Jerez de la Frontera for the Spanish Grand Prix. All the three events in Qatar, Texas and Argentina saw in fact Alvaro Bautista involved in a crash that forced him to retire from the race. For the Spaniard this first home Grand Prix becomes therefore crucial to start collecting the first important points aboard the Factory Honda RC213V machine.

Even his team-mate, Scott Redding - who grabbed a second place finish in last year’s Moto2 race - is looking for redemption after the 2 points collected at Termas de Rio Hondo thanks to the 14th place, a result below the expectations considering the speed shown by the English rookie during practice.

Alvaro Bautista
“I really hope that the first European race can finally put an end to this bad period: the only thing we can do right now is to continue to believe in ourselves and work hard, like we have done so far, in order to try to reverse the trend”.

Scott Redding
“I’m looking forward to the first European race of the season because I like to travel on the road to the circuits and the atmosphere. I also like Jerez, because it’s quite fast and it suits well my riding style. It’s quite a demanding track, but I also think that it’s one of the tracks that could be good for the characteristics of our bike. We are getting closer to our rivals and we want to be back on top among the Open Class Hondas: this is our target and we need to achieve it”.

Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Preview Jerez MotoGP

The Monster Yamaha Tech3 Team jet straight from Argentina to Andalucía, southern Spain for round 4 of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship at the Circuito de Jerez De La Frontera.
With not even a week separating the two Grand Prix events, Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro will be once again back on track at the 4423 metre clockwise circuit, which is rich in motorsport history. Both Tech3 riders have had previous success here during the past years, as they seek to continue their positive work done so far this season with the French MotoGP team.

Bradley Smith intends to raise the bar this weekend as the series begins its European run of events. After another pleasing finish, the British rider’s optimism is high as he hopes to up the pace and assert himself as the leading satellite bike under the Andulacian sun.

Whilst, Spaniard Pol Espargaro will perform in front of his home country’s fans with the aim to put on a great show, as the 22 year old Catalan continues to gather pace and experience after a positive and notable beginning to his rookie campaign in the premier class.

Bradley Smith - #38:
“After what has been a great couple of weeks travelling from one continent to the next, it will be nice to get back to Europe, and to Jerez which is a circuit I, and the Yamaha favour. I scored my first Pole position here in 2008, and then won the race in 2009 in the 125 class, which are nice memories. For this year there’s a little work that needs to be undertaken on the bike, but I have full confidence that we will continue our steady improvements, and the team as well as Yamaha are doing a great job so far. However, the result from the last race was not where I would like to be, and I am determined to close the gap to the bikes in front of me, and who knows, possibly be in the hunt for a podium.”

Pol Espargaro - #44:
“It may seem like a bit of a squeeze, but I am really happy that I get to go back out on my Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP bike again in such a short space of time after the last race. I enjoy Jerez and I have had some great results here in the past, including my first World Championship win in 125cc, so this weekend I aim to please the fans, get a good qualifying, a great start and then see what happens. It will be really nice to race in my home country for the first time on a MotoGP bike, which will give me a boost and make me ride even harder. I can’t wait to get it started."

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Preview Jerez MotoGP

Fresh from an action packed weekend in Argentina, the MotoGP paddock has now completed an exhausting journey back to Europe. This week sees Movistar Yamaha MotoGP set up camp in Spain for the first back-to-back race weekend of the year, the Gran Premio de España at the Jerez circuit in the South of the country.

Valentino Rossi arrives back in Europe excited to return to a circuit that has recorded him a considerable number of victories. The nine-time World Champion has an impressive record on the Andalucian circuit with a staggering six premier class wins and two additional victories in the 125cc and 250cc classes. Last year’s visit saw him finish just off the podium with fourth place.

Jorge Lorenzo is excited to return to his home country to race on familiar territory, the two-time premier class world champion has an impressive record at Jerez, with two 250cc wins in 2006 and 2007 and a further two premier class victories in 2010 and 2011. 2012 saw him take second on the podium, just 0.9 seconds from a third potential premier class win and last year saw him continue his premier class podium run with third.

The Jerez circuit was built in 1986 with the first Grand Prix taking place one year later. The 4.423km Jerez circuit sits within a natural amphitheater usually full to capacity with a dedicated MotoGP crowd and is characterized by numerous quick direction changes and few hard braking points.

Valentino Rossi
“Jerez is one of the most special and important Grand Prix weekends of the season, the track is fantastic and there will be a lot of fans so the target is to improve and make the podium. We have to work a lot, the bike is good but we have some weak points which we have to improve to go faster so we can fight with the Hondas.”

Jorge Lorenzo
“We come back to Europe and I’m so excited to race at home, in Jerez, in front of the Spanish crowd, especially after I’ve got my first podium of 2014 now. The taste of that podium was really great and sweet after two difficult races. The track is always amazing not only because of the layout but also the atmosphere; that is so magical. Obviously this race is going to be tough because both Honda riders are in a very good shape as we saw from Qatar, although Jerez is normally good for Yamaha it is also a special place for Honda. I think I have to improve my physical condition a little and also we need to improve as best as possible our bike and be patient and wait for our moment that for sure will come. Anyway, the latest results feed me to be stronger and gave me much more confidence. In Jerez I will push at the maximum to get another great result!”

Go&Fun Honda Gresini Review Jerez Moto3 Test Day 3

After no less than twelve days of testing on Spanish soil, the preparations for the 2014 World Championship campaign came to a close today at Jerez for the Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3.

After having been a protagonist for the majority of the pre-season, Niccolò Antonelli today was not able to finish the last day of testing as he wanted, ending the session in 14th position in the combined standings with a best lap of 1’46”840. Although the gap from the top is not too high - under six tenths of a second - during the three-day official IRTA Test the 18-year-old Italian encountered some more difficulties than expected.

The pre-season testing today have come to a conclusion also for Enea Bastianini, who completed today 38 laps, the quickest of which in 1’48”032. The Italian rookie continued to gain experience in preparation for his world stage debut, solving some understeer issues, even though he declared himself still not entirely satisfied with the chassis set-up of his KTM.

Niccolo Antonelli (1'46"840 - 65 LAPS)
“Unfortunately, these three last days of testing were not exceptional; however, today was better than yesterday, although we were not able to improve our lap times and as a result the final position on the timesheet is clearly not what we expected. We have been competitive during all winter, so we remain confident ahead the Qatar Grand Prix, knowing that we are capable to fight for the top positions: after all, the chassis of the bike is fine, we only need to fix a few things to come back to the top”.

Enea Bastiannini (1'48"032 - 38 LAPS)
“To be honest, this final test was a bit disappointing, because we wanted to get more. At the beginning of the winter the situation was better than expected, while the latter part was more difficult, but I think that this is quite normal. Today, however, we did a good job, closing the gap to the other riders and continuing to fine-tune the bike set-up, although there is still a lot of work to do. The level here in the World Championship is very high and it’s definitely not easy, but I have great confidence because the team is working hard and the atmosphere is good”.

Gresini Review Jerez Moto2 Test Day 3

The long pre-season testing period came to a close today for the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2: in the last day of the official IRTA Test at Jerez, Xavier Siméon scored a stunning fourth fastest time with 1’42”556, just three tenths of a second off the best lap time of the three-day gathering. After the good consistency showed yesterday over full race distance, today the Belgian rider proved to be really competitive also on a single lap, as a further demonstration of the excellent work done with the team.

Aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter machine, Lorenzo Baldassari closed his amazing apprenticeship lowering once again his lap times, finishing the three-day test with the seventh overall performance, 1’42”639, making him once again the fastest Italian rider on track. The 17-year-old rookie is therefore ready for his first race in Moto2, a category that seemed to suit his physical and riding style characteristics from the very beginning.

Xavier Simeon (1'42"556 - 47 LAPS)
“We finished the pre-season in an extremely positive way! Today we were able to take a further step forward, but it could not be otherwise, because we knew from yesterday that we were starting from a good base. Apart from the excellent lap time, just a few tenths off the pace, now we are aware that our potential is very high, so we are confident ahead of the first Grand Prix. We haven’t started winter testing in the best way, with the untimely Almeria crash, which slowed our working program, but later on we were able to improve constantly. Now I feel very comfortable with the bike, and the atmosphere inside the garage is wonderful”.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (1'42"639 - 50 LAPS)
“I am very satisfied with the work done during the winter: I could adapt well to this category and I have reached a good level of competitiveness, so I look forward to my Moto2 debut with great confidence. The feeling with the bike is good and we were fast also today, therefore I’m convinced that in Qatar we can do very well, although I don’t want to make predictions”.

Tech 3 Racing Review Jerez Moto2 Test

Tech3 Racing Team’s Marcel Schrotter and stand in rider Ricky Cardus today concluded the final pre-season test at the Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain, with just over a week  until the start of the Moto2 World Championship. After various developments and improvements were made during the winter by the Tech3 Racing Team to enhance the Mistral 610, the team took advantage of three days of near perfect weather conditions to make the final preparations before the beginning of the season.

Marcel Schrotter concluded his last preseason test with a general feeling of positivity and optimism for the 2014 Moto2 World Championship. The young German worked tirelessly to establish his base set up and then undertook slight modification changes, in particular on the front section of his bike to improve brake stability and turning. Schrotter had an unfortunate crash in the afternoon which forced him to run into the gravel. However, he was uninjured and the bike was not majorly damaged. With his confidence and experience increasing consistently, the young German and his Tech3 Racing Team finished the session with a best lap 1:43.149 in 16th position.

Young Spanish rider Ricky Cardus began his adaptation to the Mistral 610 at Jerez this week, in preparation for the opening Moto2 race at Qatar. Cardus is temporarily replacing the injured Alex Mariñelarena who is recovering from an injury sustained at a private test at the end of February. Having never ridden the Tech 3 Racing Team bike before, the Spaniard proceeded to undertake a shake-down initially, having not raced a Moto2 motorcycle since the last season’s final round at Valencia. On the following days, his knowledge of the Mistral 610 grew, as his confidence did. At the close of the test, Cardus finished the session in 26th place with a best time of 1:44.029.

Marcel Schrotter – 1:43.159 – 16th:
“I am quite happy with the work we have done over the past three days as we managed to test a lot of settings to make the bike more comfortable over race distance. We focused mainly on the front section of the Mistral, trying to improve the braking and turning. A big positive that I can take home is that all of the fastest laps were on old tyres, which gives me confidence in race distance. I feel there is still some improvement to be made with how the bike reacts on new tyres, but this was never the main aim at this test. I am looking forward to Qatar and feel confident of fighting for top 10 finishes and having a good season this year”.

Ricky Cardus – 1:44.029 – 26th:
“First of all, I want to say thank you to the team for the opportunity and the faith they placed in me to test their bike. Of course, it’s not the way I’d like to get on the bike, and I really hope Alex recovers quickly. In all honesty, the test went well and was a really good experience. At first, after 3 months of not riding, I struggled to adapt straight away. I saw how far back I was and became slightly nervous. However, with more time on the bike I improved and felt better every day. My fastest lap could have been quicker but unfortunately I made a mistake in it. The lap time was not the most important part of this test for me, as I needed to prepare myself as much as possible for the first race, which I am really looking forward to”.

RW Racing Review Jerez Moto3 Test Day 3

With both Ana Carrasco and Scott Deroue being faster than ever before on the Jerez circuit RW Racing GP has ended preseason testing with a good feeling. The team is looking forward to the first race in Qatar with confidence. Both riders set their personal best times in the second session of this final day: Ana Carrasco recorded 1.47.587 (23rd overall), Scott Deroue was on her heels with 1.47.797 (24th overall).

RW Racing GP team manager Jarno Janssen was happy with the results of his hotshots. “Both did an excellent job, improving their best lap times ever. And not just single laps, but constant solid lap times. Ana and Scott have worked hard and showed progression. Compared to the test in Jerez a few weeks ago, they both are significantly faster.”

Janssen was especially satisfied with Deroue’s progression. “Scott has moved closer to the top riders. He is over a second faster than a few weeks ago, while the front runners are not that much faster. A month ago the difference was 2.6, now it is only 1.5. Considering this is a learning year, we have no specific goals set for Scott but to show an upward trend. In the light of that he is on the right track.”

Concerning Ana Carrasco Janssen was satisfied as well, although the team manager believes his Spanish pupil can go faster. “Ana has not reached her limits yet, I’m sure of that. She is faster than she has ever been and she is working tremendously hard, but I have the feeling she still has to overcome some kind of barrier.”

The team skipped the final session of the three days test in Jerez, to get everything ready for Qatar where the first Grand Prix of the season will be held in little over a week time. Both bikes were equipped with new engines and all equipment was packed into crates to be flown to Doha. The team heads home tomorrow morning to spend a few days with their families and arrange the last things before leaving to Qatar on Tuesday.

Ana Carrasco – 1.47.587 (23)
“Yesterday I was close to improving already and now I even managed to get under the 1.48. Not just a little bit or only once, but quite a big slice and several laps. It feels so good to be that fast and set personal bests. The position is a little bit disappointing, but we are close and the differences are small. My team has worked hard to give me a good bike and I have a good feeling with it. I’m getting to know the Kalex KTM better and better. With these results and progression I’m looking forward to Qatar with confidence. Let’s get started!”

Scott Deroue – 1.47.797 (24)
“I lost some time this morning due to an electronic problem with my bike, but my team worked hard to solve it and I managed to get over that pretty quickly. From the data we knew my ideal lap time was 1.47.8 and I was able to ride that. I am happy with the lap times, but not so much with the position. I would have preferred to be closer to the top 20. Looking at where I stand from a rookies point of view, I am satisfied. Karel Hanika is a class of his own, but apart from him I’m the best rookie. That is one of my personal goals. Now we are heading to Qatar and I am eagerly looking forward to my first Grand Prix.”
