Petrucci Scores Points at Mugello, Pesek Ends His First Race of the Season

Danilo Petrucci MotoGP Mugello 2013
The Italian GP closes in a very positive shape for the CAME Iodaracing Team. After the podium in Moto2 by Johann Zarco, a good performance is arrived from the MotoGP riders, Danilo Petrucci and Lukas Pesek. Petrucci closed the home race in 12th place overall, fourth among the CRT riders. This is the second good result for Petrucci after the 14th place overall in Le Mans.

The performances of Danilo Petrucci are growing along his Ioda Suter BMW, which continues to benefit from continuous upgrades and staff work Magneti Marelli, which, along with the CAME Iodaracing Team, is contributing to the development of new control unit for the MotoGP. Petrucci, who started with the sixteenth time from the sixth row of the starting grid, was able to fit behind Andrea Iannone. After a failure of the Ducati rider, Petrucci was able to pass him  finishing the race in front of a motorcycle prototype.

Good race also for Lukas Pesek, who finish in nineteenth position, his first race of the season. Even for Pesek, the weekend of Mugello has helped to increase the confidence in the Ioda Suter BMW.

Danilo Petrucci
“I am very happy with my 12th place, which is very encouraging. At the beginning I tried to stay with Barbera and De Puniet but they had a step better than mine. Spite all I was amazed by my race pace, it is the first time that I can be so fast over a GP. Eventually I managed to contain the return of Andrea Iannone who had made a long and for this I managed to finish the race in front of a motorcycle prototype. I’m very satisfied because we are putting to good use the experience of the past year. With the team we are working very well and we were able to find this a great set up. Even the electronics is working really well and this makes me optimistic for the next races. “

Lukas Pesek
“My goal for the Mugello was to get to the finish and finally I done it. The fact that I have not ended the previous races I was a bit penalized and are back again for this. With the team we were able to find a good set-up and this makes me optimistic for the next races. But I must improve in many parts of my riding style, especially when I’m fighting with someone, because I can not be as effective as I am alone. “

Lukas Pesek, who started from the fifth row with the fifteenth time, finished 18th in the race. Bad luck for Danilo Petrucci that had some mechanical problems on his Ioda-Suter-BMW when he was in the CRT’s lead group looking to reach some points.

Lukas Pesek
”I’m not entirely happy with my race, but I’m not even disappointed. For me, this was the first race in MotoGP and it was important to finish it. So my target was to do it, but I yet to experience many things. Certainly this is not the position that suits me, I would get the goal is to get them to take some points. “

Danilo Petrucci
”What a shame I made a pretty good start and managed to engage the group of the best CRT’s. Then I was Struggling with Barberà, then trying to overtake Edwards I made a straight. When back in track, I started to push to recover, but the bike is turned off. I left the track, but the engine is not turned on. A real bad luck in the first race of the season. “

Lukas Pesek
"Today was a very usefull day for us, we have worked a lot on the new Ioda-Suter chassis testing also different eletronics solutions. We did many laps both on the wet and on the dry track and now we have many informations that will be very important for the incoming season. In the last minutes of the practice we decided to use a new set of tyres and I got a good lap time very close to the other CRTs and this is very good looking forward to Qatar race. I have to say thank you to my team for the great job that they have done"

Danilo Petrucci
"Unfortunately, as happened in the others tests, on the third day we didn’t improve what we have done in the two days before. The bad weather has conditioned the track, and we have also lost some time for some little problems to my bikes with the dry track. I’m disappointed for that because yesterday everything was ok, but I’m also very confident for the first race in Qatar"
