Petrucci Scores Points at Mugello, Pesek Ends His First Race of the Season

Danilo Petrucci MotoGP Mugello 2013
The Italian GP closes in a very positive shape for the CAME Iodaracing Team. After the podium in Moto2 by Johann Zarco, a good performance is arrived from the MotoGP riders, Danilo Petrucci and Lukas Pesek. Petrucci closed the home race in 12th place overall, fourth among the CRT riders. This is the second good result for Petrucci after the 14th place overall in Le Mans.

The performances of Danilo Petrucci are growing along his Ioda Suter BMW, which continues to benefit from continuous upgrades and staff work Magneti Marelli, which, along with the CAME Iodaracing Team, is contributing to the development of new control unit for the MotoGP. Petrucci, who started with the sixteenth time from the sixth row of the starting grid, was able to fit behind Andrea Iannone. After a failure of the Ducati rider, Petrucci was able to pass him  finishing the race in front of a motorcycle prototype.

Good race also for Lukas Pesek, who finish in nineteenth position, his first race of the season. Even for Pesek, the weekend of Mugello has helped to increase the confidence in the Ioda Suter BMW.

Danilo Petrucci
“I am very happy with my 12th place, which is very encouraging. At the beginning I tried to stay with Barbera and De Puniet but they had a step better than mine. Spite all I was amazed by my race pace, it is the first time that I can be so fast over a GP. Eventually I managed to contain the return of Andrea Iannone who had made a long and for this I managed to finish the race in front of a motorcycle prototype. I’m very satisfied because we are putting to good use the experience of the past year. With the team we are working very well and we were able to find this a great set up. Even the electronics is working really well and this makes me optimistic for the next races. “

Lukas Pesek
“My goal for the Mugello was to get to the finish and finally I done it. The fact that I have not ended the previous races I was a bit penalized and are back again for this. With the team we were able to find a good set-up and this makes me optimistic for the next races. But I must improve in many parts of my riding style, especially when I’m fighting with someone, because I can not be as effective as I am alone. “

Lukas Pesek
”I’m not entirely happy with my race, but I’m not even disappointed. For me, this was the first race in MotoGP and it was important to finish it. So my target was to do it, but I yet to experience many things. Certainly this is not the position that suits me, I would get the goal is to get them to take some points. “

Danilo Petrucci
”What a shame I made a pretty good start and managed to engage the group of the best CRT’s. Then I was Struggling with Barberà, then trying to overtake Edwards I made a straight. When back in track, I started to push to recover, but the bike is turned off. I left the track, but the engine is not turned on. A real bad luck in the first race of the season. “

"Today was a very usefull day for us, we have worked a lot on the new Ioda-Suter chassis testing also different eletronics solutions. We did many laps both on the wet and on the dry track and now we have many informations that will be very important for the incoming season. In the last minutes of the practice we decided to use a new set of tyres and I got a good lap time very close to the other CRTs and this is very good looking forward to Qatar race. I have to say thank you to my team for the great job that they have done"

Danilo Petrucci
"Unfortunately, as happened in the others tests, on the third day we didn’t improve what we have done in the two days before. The bad weather has conditioned the track, and we have also lost some time for some little problems to my bikes with the dry track. I’m disappointed for that because yesterday everything was ok, but I’m also very confident for the first race in Qatar"

Another Best CRT for Aspar Power Electronic on Le Mans CRT?

Randy De Puniet vs Aleix Espargaro Estoril 2012

Aspar Power Electoric got 2 best CRT awards on Europe race at Jerez and Estoril. The next race will be on Le Mans. Without Colin Edwards, who got the best CRT on Qatar GP, the chance for Aspar Power Electronic is bigger.

Only 2 riders and 2 teams so far on the best CRT. Colin Edwards (NGM Mobile Forward Racing) and Aleix Espargaro (Aspar Power Electronic). Randy De Puniet, Espargaro's teammate was 2 times on 2nd best CRT. After a last Aspar's battle on Estoril, De Puniet told that he hope for a better result.

Michel Pirro from Gresini should be a good competitor, but it looks that his performance on Gresini's CRT was not as expected. Duo Avintia, Yonny Hernandez and Ivan Silva, Danilo Petrucci on Ioda and Mattia Pasini (Speed Master) have not shown good performance. James Ellison also struggle with chatter issue. So the battle left to Aleix Espargaro and Edandy De Puniet.

Ioda Racing Estoril Day 1 Review

Danilo Petrucci Estoril 2012

After the wet track in the morning, the weather was good for the free practice of the Portuguese Gran Pix first day .

In this first day Danilo Petrucci has practiced for a long time, also on the wet track, to learn as soon as possible  all the Estoril Circuit parts. The Came Iodaracing Team young rider has got the twentieth position with the time 1’42.984. An elettrical problem to his TR003 has stopped his practice ten minutes before the end.

Simone Corsi has finished, in Moto2 class, at the thirteenth place with 1’42.784 at 1.009 from Redding’s best lap. The Roman rider has worked a lot on the suspensions of his FTR where he feels some problems on the rear part.

The TR002 is growing up solving many problems of the last races, Luigi Morciano closed at thirtieth place with 1’54.600, while Armando Pontone is not yet qualified just for 0.3 seconds.

“Today I focused my work on learning the track – Petrucci declared – that has very slow and very fast corners as well. We worked a lot on the setting of the TR003 and we have understood the way to follow. Unfortunately a problem to the ECU has stopped my practice ten minutes before the end and I couldn’t  improve my lap time. There is  still a lot to do on the bike but I’m confident on my team, one of the best of the championship”.

“I like this track very much and we are quite competitive – Corsi said – but I have a problem with the rear part of my bike that moves a lot when I go into the corners. I hope to solve this problem as soon as possible because I want to do a very good race after the bad result of Jerez”.

“Things are going better – Morciano has declared – the TR002 in growing but there is stil a lot of work to do. I think that here we can do a good race”.

“Everything is new for me here – Pontone has said – the track, the bike and the team as well. I had some problems to learn the track for the weather conditions, but I’m sure that Tomorrow will be better”.

Historic Result for the Came Ioda Racing Team

Danilo Petrucci Jerez 2012

The weather for the last day of the Gran Prix of Spain permits to race with the slick tyres despite the asphalt of the Jerez was still damp.

Historic result for the Came Iodaracing Team in MotoGP thanks to Danilo Petrucci that gets with the thirteenth place conquest the first points in the championship for him and for the TR003. Despite the grey sky it doesn’t rain for all the race even if the asphalt is still damp in some parts. The Umbrian rider doesn’t start well but catchs and overtakes Pasini after four laps. From that moment Danilo begins to force the pace reaching Ellison and Pirro overtaking the italian at the eighteenth lap and then the five laps later conquering the fourteenth position. The retire of De Puniet allows to the Came Iodaracing Team rider to finish the race in thirteenth place, best second CRT, conquering his first three points in the world championship classification. Thanks to Danilo’ great race also the italian factory Iodaracing Project conquers the first points in the constuctor ranking, reaching the sixth place.

The Moto2 race has been strongly conditioned by the rain, departed with the damp track, but with all the riders with the slick tyres, has been stopped at the eighteenth lap for a squall. The difficult conditions have strongly compromised the race of Simone Corsi that has not find the good feeling with his FTR. At the end the Came Iodaracing Team rider has finished at the seventeenth place.

Luigi Morciano in Moto3 crashes after only two laps. Despite the damp track all the riders have chosen the rain tyres with the consequence of many crashes. Gigio, after a good start, was making a good pace when at the beginning of the third lap he crashes for high side and heis forced to retire.

Danilo Petrucbi
“I’m very happy, this fantastic result is thanks to the great job done by my team and by Iodaracing that in a very short time has created a competitive bike. I didn’t started well and in the first two laps I was not fluid, then I have found a good pace and I have reached in first Pasini and then  Pirro and Ellison. We did a great exploit because with a “homemade”  bike we have already gotten the first points in the championship at the second race and here we were also the second best CRT. Next week we will race at the Estoril, I never practice on this track, where we have to work hard trying to repeat this result”.

Simone Corsi
“Unfortunately the conditions of the track have compromised my race. I never found a good feeling with my bike and a good pace. Now I must forget this unlucky race and I have to concentrate myself on Portugal GP of next week.”

Luigi Morciano
“I’m disappointed for the crash because I had a good pace. Unfortunately in the beginning of the third lap I have lost the rear of my bike and I crashed. The TR002 is growing, we have solved many problems and I think that in Portugal we will be more competitive”.

The Weather Conditions Complicate the Qualification of the Came Ioda Racing Team

Danilo Petrucci Jerez 2012

The weather continues to be the true protagonist of the Gran Prix of Spain. After the fallen rain in the morning forcing to effect the free practice on the wet, the track of Jerez Circuit has gone drying during the qualifying of the three classes.

Danilo Petrucci gets the eighteenth time in MotoGP class with 1’44.645 to 5.113 from the pole position of Jorge Lorenzo. The Came Iodaracing Team rider  the has done ythe qualifying practice with very difficult conditions, the asphalt still had a lot of damp parts and with the slick tyres the grip was to the limit.

A crash conditions the practice of Simone Corsi that he finishes to the eighteenth place to 1.349 from the best time of Marquez. The Roman rider occupied the third position when at the seventh lap because of a mistake he went out of the dry trajectory and crashed. A frantic job of the Came Iodaracing Team mechanics, that has restored the damaged bike in just eight minutes, has allowed Simone to be able to effect the last two laps.

More complicated the qualifications of the Moto3 began on the wet and you finished with the almost dry track. Gigio Morciano has shown to be to his ease with the TR002 on the wet where he has not had particular problems. In the last minutes the young rider of the Ioda Team Italia has risked the choice of the slick tyres for first but for a problem of loss of power of his engine you/he/she has not improved his position.

“This practices were very difficult – Petrucci has declared – considering that the conditions in these two days are continually changed. In the qualifying the asphalt in some points was still damp and needed to have a very good feeling with the grip of the slick tyres to make the time. I have preferred to not risk too much for the chattering and for not to ruin the job done with the team in these days considering that we have found some good solutions under all conditions”.

“I’m very disappointed – Simone Corsi said – because this crash ha wasted the great job made by my team during this week end because we are very competitive in all conditions. Tomorrow I will be a very hard race, I need to attack since the start for fighting for the podium”.

"In the wet these days we did not go badly and we have solved the problems we had in Qatar - said Luigi Morciano - just unfortunate that we had a loss of engine power just when we put the slicks to try to scale the grid for the race tomorrow. "

“On the wet we are quite competitive ad we have solved many problems suffered in Qatar – Morciano has declared – unfortunately my engine has lost power when I used on the slick tyres trying to improve my position on the grid”.
